It did not take long after Thursdays mass shooting in a West Seattle neighborhood for anti-gun extremists to exploit the crime by attacking the Second Amendment, and/or the National Rifle Association.
It seems almost par for the course. The section following the Seattle Times in-depth report tells the tale, as do some of the remarks following the equally-detailed first report by the on-line Seattle Post-Intelligencer. To the credit of a few readers, however, they quickly noted now tacky it is to use this kind of tragic event to bolster a political agenda. Both news agencies, incidentally, should be applauded for their coverage. It is gripping, and holds the readers' interest.

Anti-gun hostility seems to have intensified since the Supreme Courts 2008 Heller ruling affirming that the Second Amendment protects an individual civil right and this years ruling in McDonald v. City of Chicago, which applies the Second Amendment protection of that civil right to state and local governments.
This hostility takes many forms, and one of the more insidious appears to be happening right now in Madison, Wisconsin, where authorities have charged five men with disorderly conduct because they were openly carrying sidearms at a restaurant. According to State Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen, thats perfectly legal, and since Wisconsin is one of two states holding out on the adoption of a concealed carry statute, it is essentially the only way for a law-abiding citizen to legally carry a firearm for personal protection.

Who cares about the NRA? They are just another leftist shill organization.
Madison, Wisconsin, where authorities have charged five men with disorderly conduct because they were openly carrying sidearms at a restaurant.
...and I say the charges were false. The charge should have been “disturbing the peace”, aimed at the 9-11 caller, the sixty two year old.
My Lord, you’re dumb.
Prove it.
I do. Thinking about upgrading my membership to the "Life" variety. Whether you like it or not, the NRA is still the most effective gun-rights group around. They make some wrong calls, to be sure, but "when the NRA speaks, everybody listens". If you don't like some of the things that they do, JOIN UP AND VOTE to get them to change.

Here is something I wrote on FR a few years ago..
So, lets see what laws the anti-gunners have tried to force on us without the NRA stopping them.
1961. We don’t want to take your guns away, we only want to register handguns. Long guns will not be affected.
1964. We don’t want to take your guns away. We only want to register all of them!
1968. We don’t want to take your sporting guns away. We ONLY want to register them and ban ONLY the import of foreign Saturday night specials and five shot WWII military bolt action rifles!
1968 “Today we make America safe by taking the guns out of the hands of criminals!”...LBJ when he signed the 1968 gun control act into law.
1971. We don’t want to take your sporting guns away, we ONLY want to ban Saturday night specials.
1976. We don’t want to take your long guns away. We ONLY want to ban all handguns!
(From the original Handgun Control Inc group)....”We only want to control handguns. Long guns will not be affected.”
1981. The NRA is a rifle organization! They should give up their handguns! And they can keep their rifles!-(Actress Lee Grant on GMA)
1989. We don’t want to ban your hunting rifles and shotguns. We ONLY want to ban handguns AND Assault rifles and shotguns.
We ONLY want to ban assault rifles and shotguns AND all fifty cal. rifles and handguns!
I could go into more detail but that is plenty. Thankfully the NRA has been a lightning rod for such claims.
For those who are not NRA members do you really think you personally have the clout to sway congress and hold off an organized attempt by the Brady bunch and others? Can you come up with enough money to buy air time to counter the false claims of George Soros and his billions?
If not YOU NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF THE NRA!
i am a life member of the nra... i have bought a life membership for my nephew for his birthday... i will buy another for my son when he is old enough to vote...
i support the nra’s stated mission... i believe the constitution is the permit every american needs to carry... until that is recognized by all, i support the nra.
23 million strong. mission’s right. sometimes seems wrong. could always do more.

The Anti-Gun Lobby seems to be as disconnect from reality as the rest of they’re species. And yes, they are a separate species from the rest of us.
There are now over 300,000,000 firearms in the hands of over some 150,000,000 Patriotic Americans who BELIEVE in the Constitution and it’s Bill of Rights. And who are finally willing to fight for it.
If you want our guns . . . come and get them!
