Bob Woodward's searing critique of the Democrats' war strategy comes as key advisers are leaving and voters lose patience with Barack Obama's promise to deliver 'hope and change'. Alex Spillius reports on an increasingly isolated President.
When Barack Obama took office 20 months ago – and what a long 20 months it seems – there was a lot of talk about the great "Team of Rivals" he was appointing around him. Parallels were drawn with the cabinet of substantial talents and big personalities assembled by Abraham Lincoln to rebuild the nation after the civil war.
Now, in a new book, Obama's Wars, the veteran reporter Bob Woodward has confirmed in intricate detail what has been known in Washington for some time: that some of the team could barely stomach working with each other. General David Petraeus, then the military overseer of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, avoided contact with David Axelrod, the President's chief strategist, whom he regarded as a "complete spin doctor". No one had a good word for General James Jones, the national security adviser and former Nato commander, while his number two, Thomas Donilon, was regarded as a "disaster" by the Defence Secretary, Robert Gates.
Most withering of all was Vice President Joe Biden's description of Richard Holbrooke, the special envoy to Afghanistan, as "the most egotistical bastard I've ever met". Biden has nearly 40 years' experience in Washington, so that is saying something.
Much of this would be unimportant if there weren't a war involved – no one expects to be given a smooth ride in the White House and some of what Woodward describes could even be called healthy debate – but the aura of dysfunction portrayed by Woodward as Obama and his "team" debated strategy in Afghanistan is truly alarming.

Especially is you are part of the "Tax Livestock Class", i.e., white, middle class, plays by the rules. You have seen hand outs and hand ups for every kind of person who didn't plan ahead, live within their means, pay their bills on time, etc.
Meanwhile, you have made all your mortgage payments on time, often at great sacrifice, saved, stayed out of debt, lived within your means, and you are paying for all the hand outs, you are watching your opportunities dry up, and you see 16,000 new IRS agents, fat federal paychecks, government workers unions and the "ruling class" working hand in hand to feed each other at your expense, government mandates, increased taxes, job shortages, downsizing, and very rough times ahead.
Obama's dream was bullshit from day 1, and the "Hopey Changey" idiots stupid enough to believe in his crap have set this country up for ultimate failure.

If America survives this onslaught and returns to a Constitutional Republic, honest historians will look back on this administration as the lowest point in our history. They will wonder what posessed more than half of the voters to fall for a charlatan who is little more than a later day Marxist decked out as a snake oil peddler.

If Obama gets amnesty through, then it will be a majority whom actualy want this. After that the honest historians will have to run underground. They will not be allowed to speak.
I share your dream, but in my own version of it, Obama is watching the festivities on television from inside a prison.
My liberal family shoved Obama in my face for months, prior to him winning the election, then gloated like grotesque children when he won.
I hardly hear a peep out of them now.

The United States of America owes the world nothing. Who cares what they think?!! The American people will rid themselves of the snobish and corrupt elite and be the Better for it!!
The only thing that surprises me about this, is not that it has happened (Obama’s Fall), but how quickly and how thoroughly. Total Refudiation.
I truly regret that I am unable to recall who, upon the occasion of Obama's announcement of his presidential candidacy (I believe at the very same spot that Lincoln also announced his), observed all Lincoln and Obama have in common is neither was born in Illinois and both have big ears.
This was no dream, it was a cooked up hopped up euphoric socialist, racist delusion straight from hell.
