Rove Returns, With Team, Planning G.O.P. Offensive (Do not donate to Tokyo Rove)
NY Times ^ | 9/26/10 | JIM RUTENBERG

Posted on 09/26/2010 4:53:35 AM PDT by jimbo123

In 2004, the Republican master strategist Karl Rove led weekly sessions at his Washington residence where, over big plates of his butter-smothered “eggies” and bacon slabs, he planned the re-election of President George W. Bush — and what he hoped would be lasting Republican dominion over Democrats.

Thanks! It’s an excellent article.

My comment in #58 was in reference to concern for her safety. Our side isn’t the only one which realizes that the game has changed, and I don’t put anything past the opposition.

Our universites are staffed with tenured 60’s Communists like Ayers, and the Harvard politburo, so it’s really not surprising that Reagan’s conservative movement wasn’t sustained.

Without Reagan around because of his age and developing illness, you're right. Gingrich frittered away his opportunity to be its champion and influence a generation. At any rate, his personality was an obstacle no matter what he did. JMO.

Your point is well taken. Conservatives have a massive job in front of them to turn things around. Nov. 2 is just the beginning. We're at the point that we can't afford to lose this one.

I’d would say that your concern is entirely appropriate since they have already burned her church down and knowing how loony the Alaska blogger PDS nuts are, I can only imagine the abysmal depths as to which they are willing to stoop in order to stop her. And I’m pretty sure that she and Todd are well aware of her need for greater security as she moves into this next stage of her political career.

If you are giving to those in other states, Bill Randall NC 13 has a good chance to retire Brad Miller. He needs help doing it.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought you were talking about Sarah going 3rd party. Let the liberal Republicans help the conservative cause with a 3rd party as they did in 1980 with John Anderson.

I agree on your security concerns. 'Nuf said.

I agree. I was angry at Rove the night of McDonnell’s win but I still appreciate what he has accomplished. He’s a good man. I’m not into inane hatred as are so many around these parts.

Thankfully, we now have a champion and she's 46 years old. No wonder the 'Big R' crowd in DC is apoplectic.

Does it strike anyone as strange that Sarah Palin is on the stage because of John McCaine ?.... If people here really hate Karl Rove where are they gonna go when Palin endorses his group?...or it endorses her?

I understood your post with the reference to George Wallace.

I pray for Sarah daily, also for her safety, and for the safety of her precious family.

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘strange’ but I’ve always recognized that McCain brought her to the national stage and she has remained friends with him.

As for Karl Rove and his new group, I would be very surprised were his group to support her run for the nomination should she seek it.

Rove is an (R). I am a conservative. He doesn’t care if it is a Castle or a Snowe that is elected so long as an (R) wins.

Bingo. He appears to have a line on big money but what good will that do if he wastes it like he wasted the eight years of the Bush administration?

All those years in power, and what did he/they do THEN to build a strong republican party with staying power? Squat, that's what.

Rove can foad for my money.

Rove is a very talented man that has enjoyed many successes in his field.

However, I am reminded of something my daddy once explained to me. Dad told me that men have something within them that is sacred, their integrity. Integrity is something that no man can take from you... to lose it, you must give it away and once it’s gone, you can never get it back.

Rove gave his away last week... he won’t get it back..... not in my eyes.

RIP, dad.

*Sigh*. I hope not. I expect he might go for one of the Governor’s currently holding office: Daniels, McDonnell, Christie or Barbour, unless he thinks Haley is too Southern to win election. I don’t think he’ll go for a legislator. Romney would be the worst one of all for his group to back. All out war within the GOP. I refuse to entertain a Romney candidacy/nominee.

“Our universities are staffed with tenured 60’s Communists like Ayers, and the Harvard politburo, so it’s really not surprising that Reagan’s conservative movement wasn’t sustained.”

Agreed. The Universities, aided and abetted by weak kneed Establishment candidates like the Bushes, Dole, McCain and now Romney who can’t refute the Marxist hogwash with the truth becasue they don’t believe the truth themselves.

When a Reagan or a Palin come along and begin to enunciate the time-tested truths with conviction, we win landslides.

When the Establishment tries to mouth platitudes as if they believe them, the electorate sees right through them. They either vote third party (Perot), don’t vote or, or in ignorance (thanks to the universities vote, for the Marxist.

Only a great event (September 11 and the resulting war with Iraq) allowed the RINOs to cobble together one very slim majority of the popular vote. In every other Presidential race since Reagan’s third term win in 1988, the Dem got the majority or a very healthy plurality.

Great Job, RINOs! Now take a seat. You have had your chance and have blown it. We’ll take it from here. (or should I say, SHE’LL take it from here).

SHE’LL take it from here).

Yes! She'll take it from here and we'll help her, by seeing that she wins election.

Again, like Reagan, Sarah is not a product of the Communist universities, so she is naturally hostile to them and their teachings, which are rightfully unAmerican to her and to us.

I think American voters have had their fill of lofty rhetoric and utopian promises. We're ready for a plain spoken American patriot, with a servant's heart, --- a genuine, honest woman, who's withstood the worst slander and ugly smears the nasty news media has thrown at her --- but who's never faltered, never quit, and who has her priorities right. Trust in God, love of family and love of country.

In a choice between a RINO or a conservative, Rove would prefer the RINO.

In a choice between a Democrat or a Conservative, Rove would prefer the Democrat.

“Mr. Viguerie — one of the original Reagan warriors and direct mail guru”

If this is the same guy I’m thinking of he was on CSPAN not to long ago and he mentioned the direct mailing list Reagan built. At the time Reagan only had a mailing list of 250,000 in 1980.

Compare that to what Gov. Palin has at this point. With Face book and SarahPAC I would say Gov. Palin can tap into about 2.6 Million donors. Think about that for awhile.

I have been saying this for a while and some here deny it. Sarah Palin, at this point, is a much more formidable political force than Ronald Reagan was at a corresponding time (1978). It is not even close.
