The communists in this country are desperate. They are scared to death. When Americans do take our country back, we’ve got a lot of house cleaning to do. First, we need to fumigate the place.

Nuclear power is clean, cheap, and will greatly reduce America’s dependence on Middle East oil (and the financing of our enemies). All positive.

Tim Gill is a militant gay millionaire who has devoted much of his fortune to stopping conservative candidates. His organization targets any socially conservative candidate and then attacks relentlessly. He never mentions anything about his real motives which are his backing of gay issues, he just smears candidates with other unrelated accusations. He floods a district with repeated negative mailings. Candidates don’t know where it is coming from —it is coming from Colorado. He has targeted people from around the country. Watch out for this guy.

All good points. And frankly, it wouldn’t hurt to promote nuclear research with potential military applications, given the current state of the Middle East and North Korea.

Unfortunately, the nutcases in the present Obama administration will look for anywhere but funding military applications.
BTW, what the hell is Comcast doing financing this crap political advertizing?

Yeah, it is a shame that the left has demonized atomic power and it’s related subjects by using mushroom clouds. It is bad science, for an atomic explosion to happen, you need for U-235 or Pu-239 (and some other isotopes) to be able to achieve critical or super-critical mass. Fuel for reactors are not designed to achieve that and I know the waste isn’t either.

Gill is a mini-Soros with a militant anti-traditional-values chip on his shoulder the size of boulder dam. His methods are ugly and his goals of destroying good conservatives are loathsome.

"All it takes is one accident and northern Colorado disappears off the map. Bob Boswell wants to bring all of America's nuclear waste to Colorado. Imagine what happens . . . the nuclear waste trucks start coming. Thousands of them every day. . . . And the next traffic accident in Greeley could be the last." Thousands of trucks a day eh? Maybe just a wee bit of exaggeration???
Aside from the hyperbole that is so far out there it is an out and out lie... The technical inaccuracies of suggesting spent nuclear fuel could spontaneously detonate in a nuclear reaction are so numerous I don't have time to list them all here.

Fuel for reactors are not designed to achieve that and I know the waste isnt either. You're right. Reactor "fuel" has too low of a percentage of fissile material to go critical under any imaginable amount of compression - even explosive compression initiated by a chemical explosive. That's why they enrich fissile material to higher grades for bombs. Not to mention the fact that by definition, "spent" nuclear fuel is even lower quality - having spent most of it's power, well, producing power.

The bad news is Greeley is a smoking hole in the ground. The good news is the stockyards don’t stink anymore.
