Rahm Emanuel may be leaving the White House, but that doesnt mean hes going to be back in his house. Chicago Sun-Times columnist and talking in the third person enthusiast Michael Sneed is reporting that the tenant Emanuel leased his Chicago home to has no intention of moving out now that the Chief of Staff is returning from Washington. We can only imagine the barrage of four letter words this development has incurred. From the Chicago Sun-Times:
The upshot: Sneed has learned the tenant, Robert Rob P. Halpin, 59, who holds the lease with his wife, Lori, until June 2011, refused to budge.
Im told Rahm and a close lawyer friend made several polite phone calls to Halpin last week, but he bumped up against the wrong guy, said a top Sneed source. Halpin reportedly conducts his business from the house and his two kids are in school. He doesnt want to move.
In a telephone interview, Halpin, who described himself as an industrial real estate developer in the midst of heading to Louisville on business Monday, told Sneed: Look, according to the lease I am not allowed to speak to the media about the house. But I can tell you I have no plans to move.
To make matters worse (and, presumably, Rahm even angrier) the lease was apparently renewed only six days before Mayor Daley announced he wasnt going to run for reelection. Ouch!
Fortunately, an election board spokesman says this most likely wont affect Emanuels bid for mayor since his name is still on the lease. If this is true though, we can only imagine that someone will be arguing the opposite quite soon.
The guy’s grown fond of the assorted skeletons in the basement.
In a tu-tu, no doubt.
Your experience is incorrect. Don’t hide behind a ‘private property’ lie.
The lease will have something covering this situation. Both parties should stick to the lease.
"You're in my way. Get out."
“the Tennat has XXXXXXXXXXXX”
Bumblebee Tuna!
Better get with Mrs. Obama on that. I think she'll veto the idea.
Rahm is lucky he's had a good paying tenant. He signed a lease with this man. It's his tough luck if the tenant wants to stay, per their contract, until the lease is up.
Why should the tenant uproot his whole family at Rahm's whim? What if the shoe were on the other foot and the tenant decided to skip out early on the lease? Do you think Rahm would be "understanding"? Not likely.
Exactly,, Rham is a an effeminate man, acting the way he sees “tough” guys act in movies. But in the end,,it’s just him being dramatic. His type is that way (if you know what i mean)
When John Gotti sends you a fish, start looking for Sammy the Bull to show up if you don’t get the message. When Rham sends you a dead fish,,, hes just being gay.
He also has a reputation for having an extreme foul mouth in the white house. While it gives 25 year old interns the shivers,, actual men see it for the weakness that it actually shows on his part.
Has Rham ever really broken someones legs? Has he ever ordered someone murdered?? The only risk with him is that he will break in and redecorate your house.

“This guy may be about to experience a very unfortunate accident requiring long term hospitalization.”
That, or experience seeing a pouty ballerina stamping his feet.
...................that a landlord may evict when he needs to occupy the premises himself, as in a primary residence...........
However, if the link in post #10 to his non-payment of property taxes is correct, as it’s the address of his “personal charity”, then Rambo can’t come back and call the property his residence, without facing some heavy back taxes.
(of course, all of his tax avoidance scam at the link in #10, should be overturned.)
Can anyone say ransom? Tenant is probably waiting to be bought out, and meanwhile the apartment is hostage.
I dont like R. Emanuel, but I dont like tenants either.”
For a guy who wants to trample private property rights at every opportunity- this tenant has a lease- which Rahm signed.
I know tenants can be a real pain in the pooper, but I am on the side of the tenant on this.
IF tenant keeps paying lease payments & following other terms of the lease, not a single TV judge will turn him out for Rahm to have his house back.
A contract is a contract.
The house belongs to the Tenant for the term.
A contract is a contract, indeed. Haven't read theirs, have you?
My experience is not incorrect, it is my experience, and you don’t even know what state that was in.
My goodness, people here are testy today. Have a wonderful evening.
