Was it wrong to video and post? Probably. A crime? Misdemeanor, MAYBE, and probably not even that.

If I installed a hidden camera in your home and posted the conversations and intimate moments online for others to ridicule would you still think that it is only a misdemeanor?

Can I tap your phone lines too and get a slap on the wrist?

Ravi's attorney would likely argue that (a) it was his home too, (b) his roommate invited over a person he didn't know, giving that person easy access to Ravi's belongings, (c) Ravi used the webcam - a webcam that his roommate was fully aware of - to look at his own home to make sure nothing was happening to his possessions, (d) Ravi recorded it specifically to keep a record of what this unknown guest was doing in his home.

His lawyer will further argue that while uploading it was arguably wrong, Ravi was incensed by his roommate's recklessness and acted out of anger in the heat of the moment.
