How do you insert direct links, embed pictures etc here? Is there a tutorial somewhere?

Freerepublic is a tad low-tech on those things it seems. I kind of assumed links would be recognized automatically.

You can use standard html to insert pictures, links, etc -

if you know how.

If you just put the web address including the http, it will automagically convert it to a hotlink.
