In the midst of a heated governor's race, a high-profile Los Angeles attorney is calling a news conference today with a woman she described as Meg Whitman's housekeeper of nine years to describe her treatment inside the former eBay CEO's home.
But the Whitman campaign says the woman was fired nine years after she started working for Whitman because she revealed that she was an illegal immigrant.
Gloria Allred's firm declined to release any documents before the 11 a.m. news conference.
However, Allred's statement said the woman will tell "how she suffered as a longtime Latina household employee in Meg Whitman's home and why she is filing a claim against Ms. Whitman.''
Whitman, a Republican, is vying for the governor's seat against Democrat Jerry Brown.
Allred's brief statement said no interviews will be given by the housekeeper before the news conference.
The Whitman campaign held a 10:30 a.m. teleconference with reporters at which a lawyer and top adviser to the campaign said they had tentatively identified the woman as an illegal immigrant who had worked for Whitman and her husband for nine years, beginning in 2000.

Not true. When Meg hired her she presented a drivers license as proof of citizenship (which is was then) and told the family and the hiring agency she was legal.
Where can I see that?
Well, that’s good, if it checks out on Meg’s side.
And who knows? Maybe this obvious late-game smear attempt will backfire. (Not that I am any great Whitman fan.)

Gloria Allred is nothing but a camera whore. She smears with impunity and one of these days, I hope I hope, she’s going to target someone who kicks her wide-load butt from San Francisco to Los Angeles and gets her law license yanked in the process.
