Doesn’t sound like the rally was all that effective. ;)

North Minneapolis is a total Ghetto.
I know a former manager of Target that told me Target closed up their store out their because there was so much shop lifting.

The only thing I ever liked about Minneapolis is live music at the RedStone in Eden Prairie on Wednesday nights.

North Minneapolis has lots of Black civic leaders who for years have hollered about the problems there, yet no solutions are ever found. How about getting tough on gangs, getting people off welfare, promoting personal responsibilty, and doing something positive other than holding street-corner rallies for the press.

I think now they call those area empowerment zones. It is pronounced “empowament” zone.

I know a former manager of Target that told me Target closed up their store out their because there was so much shop lifting. Chain stores have a problem when they're located in bad areas. They have increased expenses for security and shoplifting losses, but can't charge more in those areas to cover increased expenses, because that would be racist.

I wonder what a rally to support abstinence and modesty would have turned into? An ORGY?

The stores closing down in bad areas is part of Michelle Obama’s problem with “food deserts”. She complained that many inner city areas don’t have chain supermarkets with fresh produce, etc. And so too many people in the ghetto end up eating junk food from fast food places or a liquor store.
But Michelle never addressed the reasons why chain stores avoid certain areas. I would love to see this subject discussed. It could only help urban renewal if major businesses could locate in some of these areas and be profitable.
