Perry campaign dubs White the most mysterious liberal in the world By Jason Embry | Thursday, September 30, 2010, 04:54 PM
Nobody makes a beer-commercial spoof quite like Gov. Rick Perrys campaign. Perry has launched radio and web ads that label Bill White, his Democratic challenger, the most interesting liberal in the world. Its all a take-off on Dos Equis most interesting man in the world commercials. Here is the new Perry spot:
Some of the claims in the spot are, from an accuracy standpoint, questionable. To see how PolitiFact Texas has ruled on them, click here, here and here. Four years ago, Team Perry came up with a spoof of Bud Lights Real Men of Genius campaign, calling then-Democratic challenger, Mr. Way Too Liberal for Texas Guy. You can listen to that one here. Actually Baraq is the MOST mysterious liberal.
His entire life history resides in a lockbox.
Bill White is one of the creepiest liberals ever. Him and his double wide trailer commercial made me throw up in my mouth a little.
"I don't always agree with Rick Perry but when I do..."
I also like the way White's shifty eyes are used to great effect in the spot.
I hope this gets a saturation campaign as we head into the final weeks.
Meh, Goodhair is a liberal too.
Sad we can’t get a real conservative to run in a state this big.
White sucks as a candidate for Governor (or for dog catcher).
The Austin American Statesman is a leftie rag.
Governor “Rick” will easily be re-elected. (warts and all)
When he stood up at the San Antionio Tea Party and said what he did (for whatever reason) he sealed the deal.
I’m not all that fond of Governor Good Hair, but I simply cannot imagine the Great State of Texas, with the best economy in the USA at present, ever choosing a tax-and-spend liberal like White for governor.
I normally love living in Austin, except at election session. Everywhere I go right now I see tons of signs for White and Doggett in all these affluent white neighborhoods, and I want to scream, "Do you people know they will come after you first?".
More than a few have relocated from the liberal hell-holes they built.
As for Perry, I wonder what his next scheme will entail. After the TTC debacle, and the Giardasil scam, he needs to think big.
LOL ping to a great comparison.
I heard the commercial the other day. It’s a hoot!
The current mayor of Houston whined and complained about the state of affairs Bill White left Houston in, but once Perry decided to quote her she suddenly loves Bill White! Someone must have read her the riot act about supporting her liberal brother....all of those financial issues have just melted away for Houston - Bill was fantastic, sheesh
They play that commercial several times a day here, and I make sure my single LIB employee hears it if he is around.
I have one member in my van pool who used to live and work in Houston when White was the mayor. He said there were a lot of crooked deals done and his area’s streets were always bad, even though he and his neighbors asked the city to repair or resurface them. He said he had been on gravel country roads that were in better shape.
Once in awhile the tv station will take up the cause of someone in a Houston neighborhood. I realize to politicos the poor neighborhoods are meaningless - but this one story had an elderly lady desperately trying to get the city to haul off JUNK that people kept dumping on her street. There was old furniture and then just garbage. I can’t remember how many months she had been begging them to come haul it away but it took the tv station getting involved for her ward manager to do his job.
Perry White race?
Great Caesar’s Ghost!
Tons of signs for White in San Antonio and Houston affluent neighborhoods too.
Sounds like East Austin. W 35th street is one of the worst maintained streets in Austin. We have to use it every day and all the big military trucks use it, since the entrance is on that street. It is in one of the most liberal areas in Austin, and I am surprised it is in such bad repair. Normally, this area gets anything and everything they want.
I have heard the commercial twice on 1200 WOAI
With the slick sax music in the background its not a bad ad.
