"We tested this site and didn't find any significant problems."
I emailed McAfee's PR people and also notified the O'Donnell campaign because I felt that flagging her site as potentially dangerous could well cost her donation cash if people were afraid to visit or use her donation page because of their erroneous flagging. This is the email I sent McAfee:
I am a user of McAfee and am writing you because you are listed as Consumer PR so you seem as logical a place as any to start. I have been visiting GOP Senate candidate Christine ODonnells web site http://www.Christine2010.com for several weeks now and have twice made donations through her site with no problems at all. However, today when I went to her site, McAfee gave me that ominous red site adviser warning. Going to the site adviser page it only says McAfee TrustedSource web reputation analysis found potential security risks with this site. Use with extreme caution!
Now, whether this is actually what is going on or not, Ill tell you what it looks like it looks like someone is trying to keep people off of this Senate Candidates site for political purposes maybe to dampen her contributions, which to date have been considerable?
Your Site Advisor page gives absolutely NO reason for this rating just warns people to use extreme caution. Considering this is a highly visible and potentially very contentious Senate race, I think it would behoove McAfee to investigate this and correct if, as I suspect, her site is being unfairly targeted as malicious. Something is rotten is the state of Denmark, not to mention Delaware!
Since the site adviser page gives no details about why this Senate candidates web page is being flagged as potentially malicious, I am requesting additional information regarding the specifics of this rating. I am cc:ing Candidate ODonnells people about this and attaching a screen capture image.
Well, I am happy to report that today, when I visit Christine's web site it is no longer being flagged as potentially dangerous!
They’re running scared...
Maybe some geek at McAfee had an agenda?
Good job, Jag.
This is a great example of the “little people” setting things right.
It also could be that they take “reports” from people who have problems with certain sites and update their databases based on those reports.
It could have been an organized DUmpster or KOS operation.
Could be.
