Obama's Failure of Leadership (Newsweek editorial)
Newsweek ^ | Oct. 2, 2010 | Newsweek

Posted on 10/02/2010 12:28:57 AM PDT by SmartInsight

I'm loath to admit it, but I think there's been a failure of leadership in this White House. Why else would a party on the verge of extinction less than two years ago be poised to take over one or perhaps both chambers of Congress?

The ascendancy of the right has put Democrats on the defensive. A Hoover Institution study shows that House Democrats who voted for two out of three of Obama's signature proposals (health care, the stimulus, and cap-and-trade energy policy) are likely to lose, a formula that would give the Republicans 43 seats, enough to take control of the chamber.

“Obama took office not wanting to fight or blame anyone, and the Republicans played him. They stood up to him and he wasn’t prepared to defy them, revealing a vulnerability that has brought the Democrats to the brink of disaster. Obama ran on the idea that his election was a sign that everybody was going to get along but he also ran on a platform, and he won with 53 percent of the vote, the biggest margin of any Democrat since LBJ. Instead of claiming his rightful mandate, he made getting along his top priority, extending an olive branch to the other side, which Republican leaders rebuffed.”

Geez, this entire paragraph is really a psychotic episode of lies.

"For example, if I was walking down the street and saw a dog turd, I wouldn’t have any expectation nor any justification for having any expectation that said d-turd would function as a leader."

I really did LOL at this.

"I don’t see anything of value in anything Eleanor Clift has to say"

She's worth about what Sidney Harman paid the Washington Post Company for Newsweek, $1.00.

I’ve decided that I need to either move to another dimension or start doing drugs (lots of drugs) to be able to understand what liberals are (unsuccessfully) trying to articulate.

Sounds like a proactive assembling of the circular firing squad of blame. Everyone can see the train racing towards the cliff. Nobody thinks they can stop it.

Better yet, the railroad company is wondering how not to blame the engineer, who even now adds fuel to the engine of their own doom!

Must! Save! Obama!

This single-minded loyalty to an incompetent dilettante is burning the Democratic majority to the ground. The price for that self-inflicted arson will be paid shortly. But it won't end there. After the Blue Dogs are put down like Old Yeller, and Obama has nothing but a left leaning choir to preach to, it'll get worse.

When he really is outnumbered, like the Republicans are now, all will see how weak a leader he really is. The Republicans will be on the offensive. The Democrat survivors won't get close enough to him to risk being thrown under the bus. Obama doesn't have the skills to deal with either of those problems. Both problems at the same time will relegate him to the golf course for the next 24 months. Pouting. Whining. Ineffectual. Defeated.

Sympathy for him will dry up faster than his tears.

If there's one thing Americans can't stand, it's people who suck at their jobs.

Exposed as a limp, whiny fraud, his popularity will plummet faster than Milli Vanilli's. He'll become a washed up messiah. When blind love ends, it will turn to hate. That hate is coming, friends, and it's going to come from the ones that loved Obama the most.

The next two years will be so miserable for him, he may not even run for (and be defeated at) a second term.

"I never saw any particular aspects of “leadership” in 0bama."

The guy lead half the socialist/democrat party to sacrifice their political futures in order to nationalize health care.

He nationalized the mortgage industry.

Nationalized student loans.

Nationalized 2/3 of the auto industry.

Nationalized AIG.

Don't underestimat the Little Dictator wannabee.

“Obama took office not wanting to fight” (”if they bring a knife, we’ll bring a gun”) or blame anyone... “(like Bush, Republicans, Fox News, CEO’s, the “rich”, etc.)

He blamed America on his Apology Tours, and whined about Arizona to the UN.

So when did he make “getting along his top priority”? Oh, the Beer Summit.

BTW: This is a COLUMN, not an “EDITORIAL.”

I always thought any piece that is written as an opinion, either by a single author or by a newspaper's editorial board, as opposed to 'news', is considered editorial? Where do we put 'column' in Free Republic's categories for posting?

I guess poor Eleanor forgot about THIS:

Obama to GOP: ‘I Won’

or THIS:

Obama: ‘If They Bring a Knife to the Fight, We Bring a Gun’

Au contraire - Obama is giddy with success. In a year and a half he’s established the deliberate destruction of American free enterprise and laid the groundwork of the destruction of our medical systems.

See, his audience (people he’s trying to please) isn’t the American people. It’s Jeremiah Wright and Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro and all those liberal college professors. It’s the disgruntled bedwetters and all of America’s enemies. Don’t forget - he hates America. In his mind he’s a huge success.
