Obama's Failure of Leadership (Newsweek editorial)
Newsweek ^ | Oct. 2, 2010 | Newsweek

Posted on 10/02/2010 12:28:57 AM PDT by SmartInsight

I'm loath to admit it, but I think there's been a failure of leadership in this White House. Why else would a party on the verge of extinction less than two years ago be poised to take over one or perhaps both chambers of Congress?

The ascendancy of the right has put Democrats on the defensive. A Hoover Institution study shows that House Democrats who voted for two out of three of Obama's signature proposals (health care, the stimulus, and cap-and-trade energy policy) are likely to lose, a formula that would give the Republicans 43 seats, enough to take control of the chamber.

No, I’m fairly certain Beck’s grandchildren will see very little of this health insurance fiasco. They shall read in the history books about how big of a fraud that the architect of this mess- really was.

That he could be elected to an IL congressional seat was and is a tribute to the openness of our system and our tolerance for really blatant sub-mediocrity; and certainly to a large extent, his ability to snake an election via the use of dirty tricks. That he could be elected president is testament to the gullibility of massive numbers of voters and the fact that the GOP ran a true garden slug of a candidate.

I must commend you here for some of the finest writing I've seen on FreeRepublic. LOL.

I just wanted you to know that I've filed this one among the best insights on the American political/economic climate that I've seen.

All the Boomer grandchildren will see the unpayable “Balance Outstanding” on their credit card and know that Grandpa & Grandma Boomer lived it up and left the grandkids with the bill.

Why did’t you warn us, that the article was written by Elinor Swift?

I read about three or four paragraphs, and once again realized that this lady is deranged.

Obama had at the beginning the whole country backing him. We gave him a chance....

Then it didn’t take long to see the man’s agenda...and in time his incompetence.

Those of us here on this forum, each day would find something surreptitiously coming out of the WH. Esp on Fridays.

Each day we’d find out the truth.

I listened to the Wisconsin speech he gave. It was embarrassing.

This man does not represent me. He is not our president. I may not have been totally for LBJ,Clinton, even that idiot Carter....But I respected the office. I also didn’t get the idea that any of these men put partisanship above the office. They did what they thought was right for the people.

This guy is the sorriest example of incompetence.

The speech in Wisconsin left me shaking my head...

In fact, Jon Stewert of all people made fun of it also.

“Obamas Failure of Leadership’’. Wow. Two years and “Newsweek’’ finally gets it. Boy, they aren’t slow on the uptake are they?

FEB 2009 cover:

They're backpedaling as hard as they possibly can. Too late.

Clift's account of the last two years is starkly delusional. There is no better illustration of the buzzard's dictum that "liberalism is the politics of denial."

Oh yeah, right after Obama was sworn in, Newsweek ran that cover. Too many people thought it was over, including here at FR. It only galvanized many of us, though.

There’s nothing you posted that I disagree with;

But you’re able to make those summaries, those encapsulations with the benefit of some degree of hindsight.

I’m trying to speak from a snapshot-in-time sense, of having gotten whatever sense of him I got pre-election, when I was trying to evaluate him as a leader...before all this destruction took place.

I don’t underestimate him at all. What has gone on to date is appalling and very dangerous. It’s clear he thinks he’s been successful. That in itself is plenty to be concerned about.

Yet returning to the narrow topic of his leadership; without the supermajorities he’s enjoyed in Congress he wouldn’t have been able to pass certainly the cornerstones of his term so far.

I accept that he can fool skull-full-of-mush youngsters and the “America sucks, gimme mine” crowd. That he has bamboozled adults with allegedly funtioning brains is what galls me. I not only do not underestimate 0bama, it’s clear I overestimated the mental capacity of the electorate.

If this nightmare of Obama and this disastrous experimentation with Marxist/socialism isn’t a hard lesson and a watershed moment for the American electorate then nothing ever will be . A president this unqualified, incompetent ,over-sold and just plain dangerous must never be foisted on this nation again. America won’t survive it.

The Manchurian Candidate was masterful at leadership.

If The Obammunist reads a script, if his rise to the top was arranged, if his strings are being pulled, he is the personification of democrat/socialist anti-capitalist leadership qualities.

Barak Hussein Obama needs to be recognized as the epitome of leftist leadership who has nearly succeeded at ruining the greatest nation on earth.
