Big brother has taken it to a new level, outfitting student Ids with tracking devices at Santa Fe Junior High and Santa Fe High School. Minus a few high profile shootings, schools are generally known as a safe environment for our children. Why then are these schools outfitted school ids with tracking devices that must be worn at all times?
Are our students going to school or prison? What is the threat that requires such drastic measures? How many more schools plan on implementing these Orwellian security measures?
Patrick Mann is a senior and said he feels like hes in prison. Normally, the one people you would track are say prisoners or somebody thats done something very wrong, Mann said. All students at Santa Fe Junior High and Santa Fe High School have to wear the radio frequency IDs. KHOU.com
This technology doesnt stop when you leave campus. Students have reported being tracked by campus police when they LEAVE the school grounds. Thats right, multiple schools are tracking students through the use of RFID technology, on and off campus.
At that Shell Station, they can see exactly where I am, Mann said. I know that because the school cops came up there and said, Hey, you need to get back to school. We tracked you over here.

This is frightening. The boy is right. He is being treated like a prisoner.
Just damn.
Nannoo, nannoo.
Dude. I wouldn't get one.
It looks too painful.
Texas ping
Sorry, I'm not buying that.
RFID transponder range is very small -- on the order of 10-30 feet. Unless they put sensor units in every building doorway in town (including that Shell station), they won't be able to track anyone outside the school.
The cops saw him there. They didn't use the RFID to track him.
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Also ping to the homeschool list and some others. This is so outrageous that it needs to be seen.
Prison-zoo-circus is a better description.
No, this is a sign of the end times. Tell me it isn’t happening.
Your moan appears to contradict your tagline -- with God all things are possible.
Satan typically overreaches just before one of his projects collapses. There are fewer clueless Christians every year, who render unto Caesar that which is God's. A new generation of purposeful and thoughtful young people is growing up "under the radar," away from much government surveillance.
You thought it was bad?
Bet the 0troopers would love to put them in our driver’s licenses and we won’t even know it?
I hate to say this because I’m blonde but the lady who spoke for the school district needs to be told, their responsibility is to teach the students. They could make it safer with metal detectors. This is very extreme.

I think I disagree.
Yes, with God all things ARE possible. That doesn't mean that all things will happen. The end times are coming and certain scenarios are going to have to happen to set the stage for that no matter how much God's people pray for otherwise.

You know, I'm thinking back to the election in '08 and the despair and questioning we all felt when obama and the dems were catapulted into office. And now look. It's really worked out better than we expected because he was SO bad, that it's caused an incredible backlash and awakened people who otherwise would have stayed sound asleep while our country continued its slow slide into socialism. It shows that good can come of the worst situations, and I'm sure that's been a result of concerted prayer on the part of God's people. Kind of like the frog in the pot analogy.
People with children in public school should not bore God with their prayers for revival.
Ouch!!!!!
What boggles my mind is that the parents and kids went along with it, only complaining.
What’s wrong with these people?!?!?!?!?!
They should yank those kids so fast the school’s collective head would spin. They know that homeschooling is an option. Instead they, like good little sheeple, go along with it, complaining initially and then learning to submit.
If the parents in that community got together and homeschooled their kids, they’d shut down that district in a heartbeat and cut off its lifeblood and tell them enough is enough.
I guess they’re too addicted to their free babysitting.
If they keep their kids in that school, they deserve what they get and have NO business complaining to anyone about it.
It's interesting -- during the 150 years or so during which American fundamentalists have embraced this conviction, preaching as certain the global triumph of evil[1], according to our faith has it been unto us.
Yet, doomsaying is not the only game in town for faithful, Bible-believing Christians. I had a "second conversion" in 1980, upon learning that there are other possibilities. I discovered that Jesus is Lord -- and Lord is not a euphemism for "personal guru." In 1970, when I believed as you do now, I could not think more than a week or two ahead. Today, at age 59, my dissertation sits on my adviser's desk, and I seek to leverage the next three decades, the "second half of my adult life," for God's glory. In between, discovering and applying post-millennialism has transformed my life, family, vocation, and witness.
All 12 spies worked from the same data set. Ten preached the certainty of doom, demoralized Israel, lost their testimonies (and lives) and led their people into a pointless 40 year death march through the desert. I'd rather stand beside faithful Caleb and Joshua -- wouldn't you?
[1] In my less kindly moods, I refer to this practice as "serving as unpaid cheerleaders for the other team."
Glad I read this. I almost pinged you!
Put the badge in a microwave for 3-5 seconds. It will fry the RFID tag but the ID will otherwise be undamaged.
I don’t think you are happy that this is happening. Hopefully people will object and it will be stopped.
