James O’Keefe abandoned by powerful conservatives
Politico ^ | 10/4/10 | Kenneth P. Vogel

Posted on 10/05/2010 3:02:25 PM PDT by Sakity Yaks

Heralded last year as epitomizing a new form of “activist” journalism, James O’Keefe now finds himself abandoned by some of the powerful conservatives who championed him. And a multi-million dollar effort designed to offset what many conservatives regard as the leftward tilt of the mainstream media has been undermined by a series of increasingly bizarre incidents....

O’Keefe, 26, became a superstar on the right last year when he and an associate named Hannah Giles released secretly recorded videos on Breitbart’s website showing employees of the liberal community organizing group ACORN supposedly offering advice on setting up an underage brothel. The videos prompted House Republicans to introduce a resolution praising O’Keefe and Giles’ “exemplary actions as government watchdogs and young journalists uncovering wasteful government spending.”

Praise was in short supply last week, though, after CNN reported that O’Keefe planned to secretly record himself acting out an over-the-top seduction--complete with sex toy props, strawberries and champagne--of a female CNN reporter seeking to interview him for a documentary about the increasing prominence of young conservative video activists who use ambush and undercover recordings to expose the left.

...“The joke is that the tables have turned on CNN,” read the memo to O’Keefe. “Using hot blondes to seduce interviewees to get screwed on television, you are faux seducing her in order to screw her on television.”

The plan, detailed in the memo and emails from O’Keefe’s associates, apparently collapsed when the director of O’Keefe’s investigative non-profit group, Project Veritas, tipped off the CNN reporter...

That's the difference between the lefties and us. They close ranks and defend their sleazeballs (like Bill "it depends what the meaning of 'is' is" Clinton and Teddy "if my car floated I could have been President" Kennedy). We toss them to the curb with the rest of the trash.

Politico is always disturbed at the prospect of heterosexual sex on the part of Republicans or Conservatives.

What more can we say?

(Actually, we can say an awful lot of stuff, but these guys are hyping Coons who's had his google.com picture files purged of anything that could be construed to mean anything)

Conservatives can distinguish between legitimate undercover and out of bounds.

Lying to federal employees to enter a U.S. Senate office = stupid.

This CNN move = also stupid, though not illegal.

How about just go bust people “workin’ the system”? Disability fraud, do-nothing government jobs, pork barrel stimulus projects. Those are legit targets and the work of a journalist.

The Dims/Libs always vote “party line”, Conservatives vote for/against the person. Dims/Libs have causes. Conservatives have principles. Conservatives will break common cause with a fellow Conservative over principles. Dims/Libs will not. Dims/Libs seek power for their group. Conservatives seek power for ideas.

” .... showing employees of the liberal community organizing group ACORN supposedly offering advice on setting up an underage brothel.”

Supposedly?

They were offering advice. This is just one more example of how corrupt and dishonest leftists are. There was no doubt that those ACORN criminals were schooling the couple they thought were a pimp and his prostitute in setting up a brothel. To make things worse, the services of underage girls were to be offered at the imaginary brothel.

Whoever wrote this article lies. The lie is deliberate, which is what leftists do. It’s in their nature.

Lying to federal employees to enter a U.S. Senate office = stupid.

That reminded me of the homeowner who heard burglars in his toolshed one night, He called the cops and was told, "We don't have anybody immediately available to respond right now, but stay inside the house until we get there."

Some time later, he got impatient, called back, and said, "Never mind, I shot them all."

Two minutes later, the whole street erupted in sirens, police everywhere, and the perps were caught red-handed. And, incidentally, unscathed.

The officers went to the homeowner and said, "You told us that you shot them! That was not true, was it?"

His answer, "You told me that 'nobody was available to respond'...that wasn't true either, was it?"

The Senate office affair was something of that sort. The staff were avoiding constituent calls by claiming that the phones were malfunctioning, and O'Keefe was thinking he would get in and "check" them. "Stupid" is not quite the right word for it. "Ill-conceived", maybe.

—————“The joke is that the tables have turned on CNN,” read the memo to O’Keefe.———————

This is sad.

When you have to explain the joke, that means it isn’t funny.

Which is too bad. I’d hoped that O’Keefe could rebound after the last episode.

I’m just glad that we conservatives don’t circle the wagons like members of the progressive media do.
