New York Times ^ | 10/08/10 | David E. Sanger

Posted on 10/08/2010 9:59:53 AM PDT by Enchante

Mr. Donilon began as a young political operative for President Jimmy Carter and later was chief of staff for Secretary of State Warren Christopher in the Clinton administration. He has long operated in the area between politics and national security. He coached Mr. Obama on foreign policy for his debates in the 2008 presidential campaign.

whatever one thought of General Jones on particular issues, at least we had a grown-up who was not a political hack in the key NSA position at the White House

now the whole operation is given over to the politicos

Excellent, with his resume as a former lobbyist for Fannie Mae how could we go wrong?

Man, we are in serious trouble.

As (o)bama continues to implode, he just keeps making his inner circle smaller in thought. Not only is he surrounded now by sycophants, he now is encircled with a bunch of yes men who will filter out any counter argument to any one of his inane positions. He has moved from being on a stage to standing on a band box.

King Hussein only chose Jones because at the beginning of his administration he wanted to prove that he was serious and level-headed on national security.

It didn't take long for that masque to slip, and so now two of the grown-ups at the WH - Rahm and Jones - have been shown the door.

the inner circle shrinks to just the political hacks who will help Obozo to focus solely upon his political and ideological interests — which is what he is all about, even if he made occasional irritated gestures toward pretending to be some “centrist” which he is not

funny that the left is hating on him for not being radical enough, b/c he has been trying for absolutely everything in the socialist program that he thinks he can get through

how’s this hopey-changy stuff working out for us, America??

It matters not what the advisers advise when it is the idiot that replies.

To me this signals Mr. Skittles defiance. It is amply clear to me, him, and any viewer of politics that Mr. Skittles will be dealing with a Republican Congress (and maybe Senate). So for him to choose a hard core political operative as NSA head means that National Security will be his chosen field to engage in “hand-to-hand combat” with Congress. This does not bode well. To defend his ill gotten domestic agenda games he will hold hostage our troops and long term security. I don’t see how any other conclusion can be reached.

A political hack much further to the left than the current occupant.

And, no security experience to boot.
