BRANFORD — A tractor-trailer thought to be possibly carrying explosives was found by state police at about 6 p.m. at the TA truck stop off I-95 in Branford, but no hazardous materials were found.

"No explosive. No danger to the public," said William Reiner, a spokesman for the FBI in New Haven, at 8:45 p.m. Friday.

Troopers approached the vehicle and took the driver and a passenger into custody at gunpoint, then checked the truck for hazards.

The state police bomb squad is en route to the rest stop to further examine the truck.

State police, Branford police and the FBI are involved in the investigation.

We can absorb it. We’ve got a lobbyist on the job.

We can only hope that whatever is up is nipped in the bud.

Another interesting comment to write in the drivers log book. I wonder if the owner is going to bill the cops for the delay?

From the story: “The drama apparently began as a result of a dispute between the truck driver and his boss, during which some threatening words were allegedly uttered. The driver’s boss contacted police, who began looking for the truck.”

Bad juju all around.
Cross words with your boss now will make you an enemy of the state.

Just read the article.....

“Apparently there was a truck driver who had a falling out with his boss and threatened to drive his truck down into Times Square,” said Branford First Selectman Anthony DaRos. “Well, the truck shows up in Branford.”

So naturally you fire your National Security Adviser. IF something DOES happen, just how smart will that move prove?

U.S. Plans Law Enforcement ‘Surge’ On Trains

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/europe-terror-plot-us-plans-law-enforcement-surge/story?id=11797735

U.S. authorities plan a law enforcement surge this week along Amtrak routes, an exercise called RailSafe, and the heads of the country’s biggest mass transit systems were briefed today on the possible terror threat, all part of what is being called an abundance of caution.

So, all this fuss boils down to a stolen truck! And the idea that the truck was full of explosives came from whom?

It boils down to an owner who isn’t smart enough to know that when the driver is pissed you promise him anything he wants UNTIL you regain control of the truck.

It doesn’t matter what the driver is pissed about, the Queen of England, that Obama didn’t keep a promise, that the next load didn’t come through as promised, that his brother is banging his wife when he leaves town, that his kids didn’t get good report cards, you agree with him that he has a legitimate complaint!

After all he has the key to $100,000 of your money and he can burn it if he wants to. He can drive it into the river and you can’t do a thing to stop him. Nothing!

So, as owner, you had better be smart enough to know that you must keep him happy. At least until he brings the truck back to the yard and you cand get a hold of the keys.

The owner called the cops and said the driver threatened to drive the truck to Times Square... Want to take a bet that it’s a raghead driver. (Mistake #1)

LOL! Sounds like a logical answer to the article. I remember a story in the late seventies about a truck driver caught in this same situation, he actually drove his rig to Times Square and left it. Cost the owner big bucks to get his truck back.

I have heard stories from other owners who tell about drivers leaving the trailer in one city and the tractor in another. Or shutting the reefer off on a full load of beef and parking the truck in some small town on a railroad siding as if the truck is waiting for the train. That way the cops will leave it alone. Or taking it to Mexico and selling it.

Leaving it in Times Square would cost enormous bucks for the tow truck and the storage yard. Real quick it could out value the truck and trailer.

It seems something is up. The fuss, as you call it, may be disinformation. Security is very high right now.

Although I am old and perhaps somewhat senile, I do remember reading this in a local newspaper, LOL! I remember that the truck sat there for many hours until the police decided what to do with it. Eventually the city towed it to the impound lot, were it probably still resides.
