He was told there was a party at a brick house on Osborne Place, a quiet block set on a steep hill in the Bronx. He showed up last Sunday night as instructed, with plenty of cans of malt liquor. What he walked into was not a party at all, but a night of torture — he was sodomized, burned and whipped.
All punishment, the police said Friday, for being gay.
There were nine attackers, ranging from 16 to 23 years old and calling themselves the Latin King Goonies, the police said. Before setting upon their 30-year-old victim, they had snatched up two teenage boys whom they beat, the police said — until the boys — one of whom was sodomized with a plunger — admitted to having had sex with the man.
The attackers forced the man to strip to his underwear and tied him to a chair, the police said. One of the teenage victims was still there, and the “Goonies” ordered him to attack the man. The teenager hit him in the face and burned him with a cigarette on his nipple and penis as the others jeered and shouted gay slurs, the police said. Then the attackers whipped the man with a chain and sodomized him with a small baseball bat.
The beatings and robberies went on for hours. They were followed by a remarkably thorough attempt to sanitize the house — including pouring bleach down drains, the police said, as little by little word of the attacks trickled to the police. A crucial clue to the attackers was provided by someone who slipped a note to a police officer outside the crime scene, at 1910 Osborne Place in Morris Heights, near Bronx Community College.

I have to say in reading some of the posts on this thread. I am against gay marriage and against gay rights, but anyone who thinks some kid getting tricked into coming into a house and then burned, sodomized and beaten because he is gay, is a disturbing individual. I don’t care if the kid paraded down the street with a gay pride shirt on, there is absolutely no excuse for what happened to him. These gang members need to be locked up for a long time.
Surprised that the Times article hadn’t, somehow, attempted to link this crime to the Tea Party movement or to Republicans.
Was the victim intellectually challenged or something? Or, had he simply imbibed an excessive amount of the (high-alcohol-content, nasty-tasting) malt-liquor he brought with him? I think that this story has been given an inordinate amount of attention. I mean, if these people hadn’t abused this guy, would they, nonetheless, be regarded as pillars of the community? The victim, of his own accord, went on to their turf! What’d he expect? Unless I’m in a strange city and get lost, I don’t go into known gang turf! I’d wager that incidents like this happen everyday, somewhere in the U.S. and simply don’t get this kind of schrift!
No one who gets murdered is “lucky.” And before you decide it’s good to call him a “sodomite,” please keep in mind that he was created by God, and God doesn’t make mistakes.

Reading some of the responses in this thread, I have to wonder what the h*ll is being taught in certain churches. Where in the Bible does Jesus prescribe gang-raping and torturing the sin out of people?

I’m with you on this. Some of the blame-the-victim comments leave me wondering if some folks have forgotten that their hate should be directed at the sin, not the sinner.

Arrest of third suspect in which illegal aliens repeatedly raped 6-year-old (w/video of arrest)
Police in Williamsburg, Va., have arrested a juvenile, whose name is being withheld due to his age for repeatedly raping a 6-year-old girl. His arrest comes after two others, Tito Guirao-Aguilar, 39, and Samuel Eli Jacobo-Guirao, 20, were apprehended for victimizing the girl.
Guirao-Aguilar has been charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery of a person under the age of 13, and Jacobo-Guirao is charged with one count of rape of a person under the age of 13 and two counts of aggravated sexual battery of a person under 13.
Both men are being held in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has also placed a hold on them.
The most popular tourist destination in the state, Williamsburg has a growing crime problem attributable to its illegal alien population, who are largely employed by the hotel and restaurant industry.
On June 10, Williamsburg police arrested illegal alien Raul Vasquez-Garcia, 33, in front of the same apartment complex where he allegedly shot a man, a week earlier.
On the night of June 4, police arrived at the Village of Woodshire apartments on Merrimac Trail, they found a man suffering from two gunshot wounds. According to police, the man and Vasquez-Garcia had been arguing over a woman.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he recovered from his wounds and has since been released.
Vasquez-Garcia is charged with attempted murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and assault.
