Sunday column ping

Is Tim Cahill crazy like a fox?
Meltdown man takes heat off his Democratic pals
By Howie Carr | Sunday, October 10, 2010 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Columnists

When you see Tim Cahill these days, two words jump to mind: “nervous exhaustion.”

As in, “Candidate hospitalized for . . .”

But there’s another way to look at this kind of once-in-a-decade-type meltdown. This started out as a terrible week for Democrats in Massachusetts. Scandal after scandal after scandal.

But then Timmy took a bullet for his team - the Democrats.

He became a political suicide bomber. Call it Operation: Change the Subject.

Think of this election year for Massachusetts Democrats as a World War II movie - the Americans are pinned down by the Krauts. It looks grim for Brooklyn and Tex and the rest of Sgt. Rock’s platoon, but then one of the quiet guys, Pfc. Cahill, suddenly jumps up and runs straight up the hill at the Nazis’ machine-gun nest. He slays dozens of Jerrys with his submachine and draws all their fire as his buddies slip away . . .

Tim Cahill - he did it for a friend. Three, actually - John Tierney, Deval Patrick and Suzanne Bump. Consider what everyone was talking about before Timmy donned his tinfoil hat.

Tierney’s wife gets caught laundering $8 million in dirty organized-crime money wired from the Caribbean by her fugitive brother.

Suzanne Bump, candidate for auditor, got caught cheating on her taxes - stop me if you’ve heard this one before. She was grabbing tax writeoffs claiming she lived in two places at once.

“Primary residence, principal residence - I see them as two different things.”

Ms. Bump, you have the right to remain silent . . . Speaking of which, Deval Patrick should have dummied up about the graduated income tax. But no, he had to open his yap, at least twice. But just as they were about to get slammed, Tim Cahill climbed unsteadily out of the foxhole, a bayonet clenched in his teeth, bellowing, “Remember Pearl Harbor!”

My favorite Cahill quote came Friday night, when he complained about the supporters of Charlie Baker calling the talk shows and putting the blast on him. See, Timmy can spot a GOP radio plant a mile away.

“They disguise their voices,” he explained.

Can someone say, “Nuttier than a fruitcake”?

Keep your arms out, Timmy. It’ll make it harder for the guys in the white coats to throw the net over you.

Howie Carr and WRKO continue their nonstop
support of Romney, RomneyCARE, and anything which
helps Obama and Deval Patrick.

No matter that the PEOPLE have a right to vote for their choice.

No matter that the PEOPLE have a right to the truth.

Choice, Truth. Got that, Captain?

Only Cahill can help Deval Patrick. Howie is not on his side.
Cahill is in it till the end to get Deval re-elected.

That is not true.

Running Baker against Patrick
is like running Romney against Obama
and using the same mantra of fear to gin votes.
Conservatives will vote neither for Romney nor Baker.

Most importantly, Baker was selected NOT elected.
NO MORE DIRTY TRICKS by ROMNEY and BAKER and their ilk.

NO MORE RINOs who SUPPORT OBAMACARE and ROMNEYCARE.

One of the comments to Gelzinis’ column in today’s Herald:

-—Tim Cahill is an independent DEMOCRAT. He is not, nor will he ever be, “independent” of the Democratic machine that created him. Hey Timmy, I’m from Quincy myself...a life long resident...The gig is up, the “Old Boy Network” started here in Quincy a couple of centuries ago...you never had a chance to change your stripes...it was in the water...Now go out in the private sector and make some real money...our state can’t survive another four years of Deval Patrick and you’re more than smart enough to know that will be the outcome if you stay in this race...The choice is clear Tim, you’re either “independent” enough to give this state a chance to rid itself of progressive leftist leadership, or, as many have suggested, you are nothing more than a shill for that Old boy Network that created you...Show your independence Tim, bow out with grace and dignity and give our citizens a fighting chance to take back our state. And next time, run as an “Independent” democrat...you can’t change your stripes mid-stream...and that’s just what you did...

(me) Tim Cahill, IINO: Independent in Name Only (Democrat in reality)

One comment to Howie's column notes that in the pic provided there are a couple Cahill-Loscocco signs in the background. On one they had to use duct tape to wipe out the running mate's name, while they forgot to on the other. Can you imagine if this happened to Baker or Patrick--a running mate flying the coop just before the election? Having to wipe out the names of "Murray" (not sure if there are too many signs with his name though; most prob just say Patrick) or "Tisei"?

No, because neither LG candidate has left those tickets. Only Cahill's has, because Loscocco could see the writing on the wall. So Cahill has to use what TV character Red Green calls the handyman's secret weapon, duct tape, to wipe it out!

Below: Gov candidate Bucky Beaver; note the tape wiping out his running mate's name

and note also that the word “independents”, plural, is at top

Independents
Tim Cahill
(blocked out)

http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/news/x55986347/Paul-Loscocco-Tim-Cahills-running-mate-endorses-Charlie-Baker

Local Republicans say Paul Loscocco saw the light when he defected from running mate Tim Cahill and endorsed the GOP’s Charlie Baker yesterday, but Democrats pondered what prompted that change of heart.

“I guess everybody’s leaving a sinking ship,” Roger Dowd, a Framingham attorney and active member of the Democratic Party, said of the Cahill camp.
(snip)_
At a press conference, Loscocco said he pulled the switch because he thinks Baker has the best chance of defeating Gov. Deval Patrick and taking Massachusetts in a new direction.

Loscocco said he could not let his ego get in the way of doing the right thing.

“He just couldn’t any longer look people in the eyes and ask for their support and counter the question, ‘Well, won’t voting for you just be effectively casting a vote for Deval Patrick?’ “ Haley said.
(snip)
Many political observers agree that it could be difficult for Cahill, already low in the polls, to rebound.

“If the people in your own camp don’t think you can win, I don’t know how you can make the case convincingly that you can win,” McGrath said.

Give it rest, you keep spouting the same BS - and yes it is BS because anyone who listens to Howie knows that what you post is nonsense. Go back to DU.

Anyone who listens to Howie Carr — or his gravel voiced
replacement — knows there is just fawning love for
Romney, RomneyCARE and attacks against Gov. Palin.

The nonsense is that you support it here on FR.

ad hominems against FReepers are typical
for RomneyBOTs like yourself.

Either discuss WHY you and Howie Carr are enamored
with RomneyCARE and Mitt Romney,
or consider wearing a warning label.

Despite your claim, Howie Carr is FOR Mitt Romney (and therefore RomneyCARE).
Carr has said so repeatedly.
Carr has said he backs Romney because it is is "... good for me (Carr)".

Seems that you are a deceitful RomneyBOT.

there is not much more to say. Have a good day.
