"I dont believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist." I'm not sure revulsion is the right emotion. In my case it was absolutely towering rage that these holier-than-thou elitists were doing such damage to my profession (I'm a chemist, not a physicist, but ANY practitioner of science should share in that outrage). The astounding FRAUD proven by the emails, and the astounding arrogance of the global warming "in crowd" that were sending and receiving them are simply amazing.

What is in a name?
“Aquila is a constellation. Its name is Latin for ‘eagle’ and it is commonly represented is a such.”
“Aquila was one of the 48 constellations described by the 2nd century astronomer Ptolemy. It had been earlier mentioned by
Eudoxus in the 4th century BC and Aratus in the 3rd century BC.”

Great article and kudos to the good professor Lewis for taking a principled stand. Government grants etc, our tax dollars at work, have bought and paid for pseudoscience for how long I wonder? It’s bad enough they fund our own in-house academic charlatans but that’s not enough. They spread they wealth around the world to get others to join in the feeding frenzy and sign off on the science fiction. Damn them all to hell!

Lewis writes "When Penn State absolved Mike Mann of wrongdoing, and the University of East Anglia did the same for Phil Jones, they cannot have been unaware of the financial penalty for doing otherwise."
I have a slighly different view. The gravy train is rolling for those two "scientists" no matter what the investigations found. But the corruption is mainly in the other direction. Government has everything to gain with global warming and will always fund research that results in the outcome they want. The fact that there are institutions on the receiving end willing to do the whitewashing, etc is actually secondary, the primary corruption lies in the government bureaucracies and their political controllers.
