VFW's PAC refuses to pull endorsements

Endorsements from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Political Action Committee have so enraged many VFW members that its elected leaders have asked the PAC to immediately rescind all endorsements for next month's election.

The PAC's leaders flatly rejected the idea Wednesday.

"The VFW-PAC will not abandon those in Congress that have supported issues of critical importance to our nation's security and veterans," said a statement posted on the PAC's website.

The PAC's criteria for endorsements require senators to vote in favor of the VFW's position on seven of nine measures that were approved in 2008 and 2009. Its criteria for House members require votes in favor of the VFW's position on 10 of 13.

Yes, the PAC is a separate organization and must be that way because of the VFW charter and tax laws. However: The VFW Commander appoints the board of the PAC. The VFW Committee of Administration writes the PAC's bylaws including the one on criteria. The VFW Convention can disband the PAC. Look for the latter to happen next August.

The full list of endorsements makes one wonder exactly what criteria was used. Even assuming the votes met the standard, were there better bills that should have been in the list? IOW, was the deck stacked?

The VFW Convention can disband the PAC. Look for the latter to happen next August.

Hopefully that'll happen. Some of the people they support are out and out anti military.

In today's world, someone is always "calling" for some action...so I'm calling for all VFW Members to resign and demand a refund on your membership dues.

The liberal left cannot exist without our money and support...and it's time to start dumping the organizations that take our money, and then turn on us.

Starving the beast is just as good as defeating it in battle.

And before you start, I AM a Veteran, and this most is nothing against Veterans at all...just against a here-to-fore veterans support orgainzation that has been compromised by the left.

Damned shame. But it’s further proof of “O’Sullivan’s Law”: Any organization that is not explicitly conservative will over time become liberal.

I am a member of the American Legion as being shot at by rioters over my campus in 1970 doesn’t count, but if I were a member of the VFW, I would do what I did to the NRA this year.
