ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Some families have been turned away from emergency shelters in Ramsey and Hennepin counties because of the growing number of homeless.

Ramsey County commissioner Toni Carter says more than 100 people couldn't get into shelters in August and September. Carter says county and community agencies have been trying to support as many families as they can, but the need is much greater...

...Twenty-two-year-old Stephanie Kirk tells Minnesota Public Radio News she lied about being abused by her partner in order to be admitted, along with her 2-year-old daughter, to a suburban shelter for battered women.

Before that, Kirk said, she and her partner, Antonio Walsh, and their daughter were staying in abandoned houses in St. Paul.

What Democrat policies have done to the folks back home in the states. No jobs for the unemployed for the foreseeable future.

If the GOP takes Congress, these stories will be banner headlines.

It's that "Hope and Change" - no jobs, no money, more taxes, more regulation. Meanwhile Hussein and his regime live like kings.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Minnesota went for Hussein - here's a lesson "you reap what you sow"!

I thought this meant they were packing their own shelter,
bivy bags etc, shelter halfs, tents.

Maybe that should be part of the homeless welfare?
Heres your shelter half, cook kit, and ONE roll of TP.

“If the GOP takes Congress, these stories will be banner headlines”.

You beat me to this one! Why is it that homeless stories are only news when the GOP is running things? I wonder if it still may be kept somewhat quiet until 2012. If a GOP candidate wins the WH, then suddenly this will be “hugh and series”. Just a thought

I thought homelessness was only a problem during Republican presidencies. I’m surprised to hear about this.

Didn’t he say a couple weeks ago that people will have to “buck up” and prove that they are committed to backing his agenda?

Well, you won"t hear much about it. Not from the MSM. Already though, we know there are "obamavilles" springing up outside major cities.

That would be an improvement on welfare! And there is so much federal land for them to camp on too

This may be how to consolidate Democrat votes...there was a rumor during the 2008 election that everyone was going to get another stimulus check

There is lots of room at the new $1,000,000 ONE MILLION DOLLAR shelter stimulus funds sent by NObama built in San Antonio.....
But the homeless there don’t want to go there. They like the older places that hand out food. So- San Antonio officials closed down the churches because “Their kitchens were not in compliance’.

Funny——before this ONE MILLION DOLLAR HOMELESS shelter was built—those kitchens fed a great number of people for a long time.

Can’t be true. My intensive research of 50 years worth of newspaper archives conclusively proves that we don’t have any homeless in this country when there is a Democrat in the White House!

I think by 2012, the MSM will be in pieces. Already, as has been shown, the MSM channels are losing viewers and readers by the fistful and it’ll all be mainly grassroots. I hope to God that once a Pubbie takes power, that he or Palin is able to work well with Congress and turn this around. Everyone knows now how shamelessly biased and filled with filthy lies the press is.
