Tea Party movement: Billionaire Koch brothers who helped it grow (Tea Party = Big Oil)

Industrialists who own private company with annual revenues of £62bn have channelled millions of dollars to rightwing causes It likes to present itself as a grassroots insurgency made up of hundreds of local groups intent on toppling the Washington elite.

But the Tea Party movement, which is threatening to cause an upset in next month's midterm elections, would not be where it is today without the backing of that most traditional of US political supporters – Big Oil.

From the article: "AFP, in turn, has spun off other organisations such as November is Coming, Hands Off My Healthcare, and the Institute of Liberty, which are buying up television ads and holding rallies across the country in an attempt to defeat Democrats."

Oh please...like the Left doesn't have its own deep pockets contributors here and abroad funneling huge amounts of cash to Democrats and Dem-supporting groups. The more the Left whines about what the Right is doing, the more certainty you can have that they are doing it times three.

Yeah, I would have never joined up with that Tea Party movement if it weren’t for the Koch brothers. Except I never heard of the Koch brothers.

I happened to be watching CNBC live when Rick Santelli went on his famous rant, to which I heartily hooray-ed. That was it until I saw a vid on FR of a bunch of people marching with signs behind a couple of people wearing colonial garb, playing a flute, with one holding a bale of — what was it? — oh, tea to throw into a local body of water.

Never looked back. Never heard of the Koch brothers.

Where’s my check?

Yeah. After being unemployed for 18 months in Obama's economy, I finally got a security guard job paying $9.00 an hour. That's just one dollar an hour above minimum wage here in California. So I sure could use some of that "evil" Koch money.

Evil tea parties, they should be outlawed.

Look for that to be his next EO, along with tighter control of the Internet. That would sae him up for the 2012 presidential cycle.

I'm fed up with gutless cowards who write anything and everything without a working email address or having the replies enabled on their article posting websites.

Based on the standard email format for Array, the email address may be suzanne.goldenberg@guardian.co.uk

Otherwise there is NO KNOWN email address nor method to directly contact this "journalist" and provide any sort of feedback regarding anything she writes.

By choosing to write without any way of providing feedback about her articles, she, along with almost all other LEFTist "journalists" is copying the same methods of anonymously posting to some blog or web-page without any form of feedback.

IMO, if an author doesn't have the guts to stand behind what they write or to provide any method of feedback about what they write, their articles should not be distributed or at the very least, the posted articles should provide a CLEAR DISCLAIMER right up front.

“she’d have thousands of TEA Party people asking her just HOW we are supposedly funded.”

And, thousands of times, she would say “Your check is in the mail.”

We live in wondrous times. First Obama will send everyone checks, now mysterious and reclusive billionaires will send TEA Party members checks.

Brother, does you believe!

The Koch brothers if I’m not mistaken got their feet wet in the oil business around Wichita, KS. Their interests are international and huge.

One of them (David?, I’d have to google it) was at a high school football game in the Wichita area in the late 80’s when a gang-related drive-by occurred. He then donated funds to form the Koch (Crime) Commission here in KS that served for a while as an ad hoc advisory board to the state to help get a handle on crime and gang issues. Some quasi-government weasel-di_ks kind of took the lead with the project (there are plenty of them here), but the Koch’s intent and willingness to put their money into community issues appears genuine.

Never heard of the Koch brothers.

Perhaps not, but you've surely seen a few of their many products:

Liberals are too lazy to fund their own movements (with the exceptions of Stalinists like Soros), so they try to suppress conservative funding instead.

This isn’t a democratic election. This is a fight for our survival, a fight for us to have the right to protest taxation and government expenditures, a fight for us to manage our money however we want, a fight for us to power our homes and our automobiles how we want. Germany elected people who made sure that Nazism would never rise from its burned ashes again; we need to elect people who will make sure that liberalism will never torment this country again. To advocate for any less is to advocate serfdom for your future children.
