BUSTED! Harry Reid Voted Against Making English Official Language of U.S. in 2006
Thursday, October 14, 2010 | Kristinn

Posted on 10/14/2010 7:07:20 PM PDT by kristinn

In tonight's debate between Harry Reid and Sharron Angle, each was asked if they favor making English the official language of the U.S.

Angle said yes, Reid demurred and said English is already the official language.

The Angle campaign Tweeted a few minutes ago that Reid voted against making English the official language and provided a link to the Senate website for a vote on Senate amendment 4064 to S. 2611, Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

"To amend title 4 United States Code, to declare English as the national language of the United States and to promote the patriotic integration of prospective US citizens."

... Obama (D-IL), Nay
Pryor (D-AR), Yea
Reed (D-RI), Nay
Reid (D-NV), Nay
Roberts (R-KS), Yea...

The amendment passed 62 to 35.

English is not the official language. There is no official language although it is widely the English language that is used.

Why isn’t it the Official language....people like Reid voted NO.

The Senator from Ritz Carlton wouldn’t be able to keep his job if he told the truth.

And McCain also voted against making English the official language. Instead, the open borders types want English as the “national” language. 85% of Americans want English as the official language, but the politicians ignore the will of the American people.

I watched the debate between Sharron Angle and Harry Reid on CSPAN. Although there were no really clear knock-out punches, I firmly believe that Sharron Angle clearly won the debate. She won because she kept her cool, stuck to her message and didn't back down.

The debate ended with a repetition of Reid's, "We lost the war" declaration. In voter's minds, that's all that is necessary. Also, Harry Reid panicked, stumbled and lost the debate by debating off topic.

Lastly, Reid really is ripped a new one by Dennis Miller on YouTube.

I caught that too; he refused to support a Constitutional Amendment making English America’s official language. Pandering to the Mexican vote; maybe?

Sharron won the “Closing Argument” segment hands down. She kicked butt in her closing argument.

Sharron raised $14 Million in the 3rd quarter.

Oooops!

I see a new campaign ad about this before early voting starts on Saturday.

Didn't he vote against it to keep the bill alive for a later date?

Regardless, he was being his usual deceptive self.

great skewering of the POS Harry Reid!

Let's not forget how at a crucial point in the war Harry Reid attacked General Petraeus as dishonest in his assessments - when of course it was the vicious twit Harry Reid who was continually dishonest and defeatist

If this topic already has its own thread I apologize but Harry Reid also lied about the timing of his “the war is lost” statement.

In the debate tonight Reid tried to claim that his statement came before the surge started. That’s a flat-out lie.

Reid made his statement on 4/19/2007. The change is policy was announced by Bush on 1/20/2007, and four of the five Army brigades that were to be committed to Iraq due to the surge had already been deployed by the time Reid made his statement.

The 5th and final brigade to be deployed on account of the surge came less than a month after Harry’s “the war is lost” statement.

Reid’s attempt now to say that he was only commenting on the status of the war prior to the surge and that after he made the statement then they started the surge is pure crap.

This lying bastard Reid must be exposed once and for all and thrown in the trash heap of lost political careeers!

As of Sept. 2007 he (and Hillary!) and 21 other US Senators were participating in the MoveOn.org smearing of General Petraeus. This was EIGHT months after the "surge" policy was underway and showing much progress. Reid is a lying fraud trying to re-write his own pathetic history.

oops, slight correction, that was 25 Senate votes against the resolution in support of General Petraeus, in the face of the vicious MoveOn.puke full-page attack ad smearing him!

Reid, Hillary, and 23 other snivelling ‘Rats

... and notice that Obama and Biden (as Senators in 2007) are on the record as...... NOT VOTING!!

MoveOn had just viciously attacked the US commanding general in Iraq as “General Betray Us” and both Obozo and Joe Bite-me chose to exempt themselves from the vote on the Senate resolution in response.

Boxer and Feingold voted “nay” along with Hilary, Reid, Kerry, et al

any Senator who voted nay and who is up for re-election right now should have this an albatross around their treasonous necks!
