hypothetical news headline:

“Christine O’Donnell, Tea Party darling, surges to stunning 5-point lead in Delaware Senate race”

Mopey Freeper replies:

***** That’s not going to be enough to overcome Democrat fraud in Delaware, which is probably good for 10 points. I fear O’Donnell is toast. Ultimately, people will think she really is a witch. Sigh. This country is doomed. Farewell America. It was a nice two-century run while it lasted *****

I really think she’s going to win, but no thanks will be owing to a lot of very prominent RINO traitors.

"O'Donnell won 150,0000 votes in a 2008 Senate bid against Joe Biden.....which in today's climate could be enough to win."

Although much has gone over the dam since that election and there's a different scenario, there's a definite cause for optomism given how many votes she garnered in tiny Demaware.

When folks vote for a candidate once, they actually vest an emotional interest in that person and want to see him/her succeed to prove themselves right in their choice.

So I would say that most of these voters will hold true......that they will vote for her again, even if it's a subsequent election.

These votes, along with the newly-disgruntleds give her a solid base which will loom much larger than anyone thinks on election day.

I look for a pretty solid win for Glinda Christine, the Good Witch of the East.

"We'll get you, you Democrat pretties, and your little coons dog, too."

Well, the thing to keep in mind is she is a real longshot to begin with, but now she effectively has cut Coons lead in half if that poll is accurate.

Coons is leading by 11% however if O’Donnel makes it to 45 Coons lead will be 1%, as every point she gains comes from Coons lead, but she needs to reel in even more ground in the next what..18 days?

Could have been more 0 effect than COD gaining? 0 shows up for Coons and he drops 11 points. Please go again next week. 0!!!

The libs are completely downplaying her youth, telegenic nature, vote getting ability, and intangibles. If a Democrat had these qualities, they would be touted in the media as invincible. Rove and the Dems are setting the tone and carrying a terrible candidate's water.

When Rove comes on Hannity, my radio goes off. Some architect. He helped give us this mess of the last two years.

True, true and true. First of all, she is a terrific candidate. I had the opportunity to watch nearly her entire debate with Coons, and she positively SLAUGHTERED him.

Second, they are beginning to acknowledge as Fred Barnes did to day just how effective she is. (I believe they do this not to help her but because they fear a loss of credibility if she wins and they fail to acknowledge her strength).

Finally, I know Rove is trying to destroy her. She is the antithesis of all he has fought for since he slithered into Washington with Bush 41. The ascendancy of O’Donnell and Palin means that Rove will never work again as a consultant. And he knows it. I wish Sean Hannity or some honest interviewer would ask him if he expects, in a Washington dominated by Palin and O’Donnell, he believes there will be a place for him. Then we can all sit back and watch him squirm.

Rove was actively working for the Castle campaign. He is just a typical sore loser. He has always been a political hack without principled underpinnings, thus the liberalization of Bush.

I'd like to see both him and Coons go down in flames.

The 47-47 was a national averaged poll, not DE alone. I seriously doubt Bush polled 47 in DE.

So, again, the point you are trying to make is that Del. is a Blue State?

So is Mass.

And even though Obama has a 52% approval rating in Del. a majority want Obamacare ended and tax cuts not tax increases.

“I’d like to see both him and Coons go down in flames.”

So would I. And I am betting they both will. The fact that a conservative woman (whom they look down upon) is the author of their joint demise is going to be a bitter pill for the both of them.

The last time Delaware had a newly elected Republican was 1970—William Roth—who was then re-elected until he lost his bid for a sixth term in 2000. So, not quite 1970’s

DO DELAWARE VOTERS KNOW WHO CHRIS COONS IS?
Chris Coons Pension Scam unfolds- how he bilked taxpayers for political cronies

Coons Voted To Open A Pension Loophole That Would Have Allowed County Employees To Buy Into The Pension System, Or To Transfer Credit From Other Government Service. He Saw To It That His Buddies And Top Staff People — And All Six Of The New County Council Members And Their Staffs — Were Grandfathered Under That Loophole Which Has, And Will, Cost Taxpayers Millions Of Dollars.”

“No one knows how many times the County Pension Board rules have been changed to accommodate a particular employee who had political connections to a county executive or County Council. We do know that the so-called loophole has been opened and shut by at least three county executives. Coons was the latest to open it, in 2003. But he’ll also remind you that he closed it in December with needed refinements that make it work like a real pension plan. But those changes came after Coons (helped his cronies collect)......

Christine's team better get hopping---this item is a sure-thing Coon election killer. Dollars to donuts these $$$figures are just the tip of the iceberg. What about Cadillac family benefits? Tax dodging annuities ? Exit packages? Six-figure bonuses? Lump sums for phony banked sick/vacation days? Did Coons give the retirees a second job in government?

THE MILLIONAIRE COP (firefighter, teacher, federal bureaucrat) Next Door
BY Rich Karlgaard, Forbes Magazine 6/28/10 issue

EDITED Who are America's fastest-growing class of millionaires? They are police officers, firefighters, teachers and federal bureaucrats, who, unless things change drastically, will be paid something near their full salaries every year--until death--after retiring in their mid-50s....a retirement sum worth millions. Based on a realistic 4% return, an $80,000 annual pension payout with full health benefits implies a large pot of money--$2 million, to be precise. That $2 million also happens to be the implied booty of your average California policeman who retires at age 55........in Carlsbad, CA the average firefighter or police officer typically retires at age 55 and has 28 years of service w/ an annual city pension of $76,440. Retire-rehire practice is double-dipping
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 10/1/10 | Chip Johnson / FR Posted by SmithL

"Annuitants" - in public sector parlance - refers to retirees who are rehired to work their old jobs or similar positions, a practice that has become all too common in local and state government. For the retirees, it's just one more way to remain on the public payroll - while collecting pension benefits.

But some government leaders see this recycling of employees as a cost-effective measure in tough economic times: These experienced and skilled employees are available to pitch in during busy periods or fill-in temporarily while new or promoted workers are trained to replace them. "They don't receive benefits, and there's no pension cost to employers," said Pat O'Connell, the auditor-controller for Alameda County.

For most workers, for every dollar spent on salary, the county spends another 50 cents on health and other employee benefits, O'Connell explained. Annuitant employees are restricted by state law to no more than 960 hours - or 24 weeks - of employment for the year. They receive a payroll check, a pension check and - after being laid off until the next year - unemployment insurance payments. It means that in some cases annuitants earn more money than they ever did as full-time workers. Nice work if you can find it.

But there is something terribly wrong with giving pension-collecting retirees a second bite at the apple. Such policies run counter to claims of drastic cost-cutting measures in an effort to bring government spending within the limits of its means. (Excerpt) Read more at sfgate.com ...

Hey, Christine----check this out.

Former Bell police chief had a lucrative tax angle for retirement Chief Randy Adams had himself declared disabled even as he was hired for the job, a move that could make him millions in tax-free pension income when he retires, according to records and interviews. --SNIP-- "He was not disabled," said Glendale City Manager Jim Starbird, who was Adams' boss until he left for Bell. "I never heard of someone going to work for a city and having that [disability] determination made going in."

How do you you hire someone who is collecting disability and presumably not fit for the strenuous job of police chief. --SNIP--Copyright © 2010, Los Angeles Times
