How new GOP Congress can repeal, replace Obamacare
Washington Examiner ^ | October 17, 2010

If voters return Republicans to majorities in one or both Houses of Congress, their Job One will be to start the process of repealing Obamacare and replacing it with realistic health care reforms that make universal access possible at a reasonable cost without putting federal bureaucrats in charge of U.S. medicine.

President Obama will surely veto even a simple repeal measure, but Republicans still should put an end to Obamacare's most damaging and least popular provisions by defunding them.

The process will also force Obamacrats in Congress to cast multiple votes they would probably prefer to avoid, thus setting the stage for a titanic 2012 presidential election contest.

How will they repeal it with a Presidential veto in the wings? Even if we take 100 seats in the House, do you think the One will have trouble finding 34 Senators to stand with him on a veto? The GOP is going to have to be very careful here, and defang and defund it as best they can.

Even if the Republicans do better than the most wildly optimistic scenarios predict, they will still be many votes short of a two-thirds majority necessary to override a certain ObaMao veto.

The fact is that there can be no repeal under such circumstances. They can, however, defund, delay, enjoin enforcement and bleed this monstrosity to death by a thousand cuts. If they will stand together and endure the criticism for doing so, they may be fortunate enough to have the SCOTUS finally hear the case and declare the whole thing unconstitutional.

This is the best we can realistically expect for the next two years.

Pass a bill to repeal it OVER AND OVER AND OVER if you have to, until it is signed

This CAN NOT BE ALLOWED to stay

Between now and 2012 the GOP needs to get EVERY Representative and Senator ON RECORD regarding a vote to repeal ObamaCare. It will be useful in knowing exactly where everyone stands on the issue to the voters. It also gives the GOP nominee one HUGE bullet to fire at Obama - he made a huge mistake with ObamaCare and refused to correct it when given the opportunity.

I believe it is VITAL to vote on the repeal of ObamaCare between now and 2012. It focuses the issue quite nicely for the 2012 elections.

I spotted that immediately as well. Ptui.

What I’m shooting for is a three stage process.

1) Set up the equivalent of an ROTC program for doctors and nurses. If they sign on the dotted line for free tuition, they owe a number of years of their practice to the US, either in the military, the VA, the Indian Health Service, State hospitals, their denomination’s religious hospitals, or rural clinics. Once that time is served, they are debt free agents. Medical schools, teaching hospitals, and medical associations can no longer turn down academically qualified applicants.

2) Limit medical malpractice claims to actual damages, with criminal referral for gratuitous abuse and malpractice.

3) Eliminate all federal provision of medical care for other than the military, veterans, and the Indian Health Service, with the idea that the latter eventually be privatized.

4) Encourage physicians to set up private practices that do not accept any government health program or insurance. Those of these that already exist cost on average half of what customers usually pay.

We need enough conservatives in the District of Corruption with the cajones to stand up to the undocumented Kenyan and be prepared to allow the Gov to shut down when the Kenyan vetoes such bills - which is undoubtedly will do. This is a far differente situation than when Buba and Newt shut the Gov down in 1995.

Yes! So right.

I hope they go after his birth certificate and prove him to be ineligable.

Then I hope they “deem” anything he signed to be invalid.

You kill Obamacare by eliminating the over use of Ombibus bills. They provide political cover. Passing smaller targeted bills are more work, but they are harder to demogogue and hid behind.

I am in total agreement that even though it probably will not get repealed due to the veto, the GOP needs to hold a vote anyway to get everyone on record. Meantime they can defund it as best they can.

To think that the GOP could eliminate bozocare even with control of both houses is a little absurd. The unfortunate current situation with der Fuehrer in the WH will probably dictate that this will ultimately be done in a step-wise fashion by first defunding the abomination. It will be a struggle to keep the RINOs from “reaching across the aisle” to their democrat “friends” and there is always the question as to whether the majority of the GOP has the nads to pound the democrats and truly take control of the house and the situation.

FUBO

Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding -
Absolutely Right!
Make the puke veto it. In six months he will be
begging Congress to put the ‘Repeal Bill’ on his desk.
If it is not repealed the demonic-rats will lose the remaining seats they hold as well as the Presidency.

Yes. People DO NOT LIKE THIS BILL. When Obama continually vetoes it and tries to blame Republicans for wasting his time, the populace will just get angrier.

2012 will be a disaster for the Rats and Obama if Obama is forced to veto an Obamacare repeal (maybe more than once) and a bill making the Bush tax cuts permanent as unemployment remains high and the housing mark tanks even further. The economy is going to remain in shambles. The key is for the Republicans not to be weak and let Obama pin it on them. It should be tied DIRECTLY to the policies of the commie in the WH and the Rat-controlled Congress. The best way to make this clear in the minds of the voters is to make Obama veto Republican policy.

What’s happening in Virginia today may make all of this moot. If the judge rules for the plaintiffs, this will open the floodgates on the unconstitutionality of Obamacare.

As an FYI, “President George W. Bush nominated Judge Hudson on January 23, 2002, to a new seat created by 114 Stat. 2762. The United States Senate confirmed the nomination on August 1, 2002, and received his commission on August 2, 2002.”
