one reasonable option (which the vile politicos will never allow) is to say that each county must be included whole inside congressional districts — a county’s population may only be divided (in a simple, coherent fashion) when required to balance out the population numbers in adjoining congressional districts

Just heard Dick Morris on Sean Hannity’s radio show, who seems more optimistic about GOP chances than this National Review summary would indicate. Morris said he's been on a tour of 47 CDs in 21 states. His calculations are that there are more than 100 ‘Rat seats in play at this point, and estimated that the new House will have about 250 Republican members (which would be a net gain of 72). The ultimate gain, he said, will depend on the success of the get-out-the-vote drive.

I spent an hour in front of a early voting site again today. Several hundered drivers saw the signs both days. I didn’t tell them who to vote for, just WHY to OUST a SOCIALIST.

We now show 99 vulnerable Dems on our Master List at KeyHouseRaces. That’s up 5 from last week so we are basically in agreement with Dick Morris.

Dick Morris is, alas, often wrong. I think we’ve seen a falling off, probably has to do with the last round of attack ads, but those “messages” don’t stay clear, precisely because they are vague and aren’t looking to carve it into the brains. Plus, y’know, we humans don’t remember s- like the ruling classes would like us to.

Yes, I read a prediction from someone else days ago saying that 99 were in play, so it must be getting more obvious.
Only cheating can harm us and it’s already happening.

Here’s an update for another potential WA State seat in play. Not sure how accurate the poll is; and, I won’t hold my breath as Dicks has been in Congress for a long time (which may be a detriment in this year’s election). It would be sweet if this seat goes Pubbie. Tacoma is on the I-5 corridor, about 30 miles south of Seattle. I-5 corridor is usually Dim. There’s a Navy base in Bremerton, which could lean R.

Could There Be One More Competitive House Race in Washington, Completely Overlooked? (WA state)

Congressman Norm Dicks: 17-term incumbent Democrat in Washington. Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee. Represents a D+5 district that includes parts of Tacoma and Bremerton and Port Angeles. Barack Obama carried 57 percent of the vote; Dicks usually wins with 60some percent of the vote and hit above 70 percent a few times.

Doug Cloud is deputy prosecutor of Kitsap County.

As of October 13, Dicks had more than $511,000 cash on hand.

Cloud has $2,909 cash on hand.

And yet, here is this poll, suggesting the race stands at Cloud 48 percent, Dicks 44 percent.
