Obama's comedy comfort zone is a godsend for Republicans

George W. Bush unseated Gov. Ann Richards in 1994 by depicting her as more interested in being a pop-culture darling than governing Texas. She cultivated celebrity through the mass media -- Jay Leno and David Letterman included -- leaving her open to the complaint that she was more comfortable in Hollywood than with real people.

Obama is making the same political mistake today, but on a grander stage. His use of popular media to pander to the hip and youth vote is trivializing his presidency. I bet it will lose his party more votes overall than it will win.

Obama got Leno and Letterman out of his system last year. Then in July he did The View , and last week it was MTV. Coming up right before the election will be another appearance on The Daily Show. (He also laughed it up on that show during the presidential campaign.)

By association, Obama becomes an endorser of Jon Stewart's and Stephen Colbert's laugh-it-up rallies in Washington this month

Michael Savage just said that the only reason Imam Obama is going on The Daily Show is to keep Savage’s new book from passing Jon Stewart’s book on the NYT bestseller list. Is there room for Savage in the clown car?

Obama is more comfortable in Pock-ee-stahn, India, or Indonesia than is he in the USA.

[0's] use of popular media to pander to the hip and youth vote is trivializing his presidency.

Why not trivialize it? 0 has already demeaned it to the point of irrelevance anyway.

Instead of focusing on “retards” like he did last year, this year he will be focusing on “teabaggers.” He is such a jerk.

if reagan had spent that much time on “entertainment” type shows i would have lost all respect for him, the media would have accused him of trivializing the presidency, and no one would have taken him seriously on the world affairs front.
i never had any respect for oblabo to begin with, the world thinks he a joke and a puppet, and the media accuse him of..... okay so two outta three ain’t bad, right?

He's even appearing on "Mythbusters", hardly a favorite with the hip and youth vote. Maybe he's trying to appeal to nerds, too. After killing the space shuttle and most of NASA not concerned with muslim outreach.

Maybe they will offer him a guest "shot" as a stand-in for Buster, the crash dummy.
