NPR Ends Analyst’s Contract After Comments on Muslims (Juan Williams)
New York Times ^ | October 20, 2010

Posted on 10/20/2010 8:45:07 PM PDT by La Lydia

NPR has terminated its contract with Juan Williams, one of its senior news analysts, after he made comments about Muslims on the Fox News Channel. NPR said in a statement that it gave Mr. Williams notice of his termination on Wednesday night. The move came after Mr. Williams, who is also a Fox News political analyst, appeared on the “The O’Reilly Factor” on Monday. On the show, the host, Bill O’Reilly, asked him to respond to the notion that the United States was facing a “Muslim dilemma.” Mr. O’Reilly said, “The cold truth is that in the world today jihad, aided and abetted by some Muslim nations, is the biggest threat on the planet.”

Mr. Williams said he concurred with Mr. O’Reilly.

He continued: “I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.”

Mr. Williams also made reference to the Pakistani immigrant who pleaded guilty this month to trying to plant a car bomb in Times Square. “He said the war with Muslims, America’s war is just beginning, first drop of blood. I don’t think there’s any way to get away from these facts,” Mr. Williams said.

NPR said in its statement that the remarks “were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR.”

The public radio organization said it thanked him for many years of service. Mr. Williams did not immediately respond on Wednesday night to an e-mail seeking comment...

“a la Bernard Goldberg.”

Exactly and today may very well be his day. He is going to get support and sympathy mostly from conservatives, you just watch. Then the light bulb will come on.

When the GOP takes over the House in January and passes a new federal budget for the next fiscal year, I would love nothing more than to see them de-fund NPR altogether. Our tax dollars have absolutely no business funding their left-wing propoganda.

Congress should, the Soros can keep that place afloat with his millions, spreading lies in the private sector.

Nope, that would be Media Matters, they monitor all Fox programming and then notify the big dude. So far Media Matters has written about Beck 50,000 times since he went to Fox.

The monitor Conservative media of all kinds; print, digital, radio and TV.

True

And how funny, Juan is the token, absurdly laughable Obama/Liberal apologist on every Fox show he appears on.

I'm not sure if I'm more shocked by Williams being sacked by NPR or finding out that NPR has editorial standards and practices!

Williams gave NewsMax his first interview about his book, and he lashed out at leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who create support by focusing on "victimhood."

"That says to an individual, ‘You can't help yourself, you can't help your family, and therefore all you can do is wait for the government to do something for you," said Williams, who is also a senior correspondent for National Public Radio. "I think it is a message of weakness and ineffectual thinking that is absolutely crippling the poor and especially minorities in the United States."

He is 100% right. He quoted the Times Square Bomber, and then said how he FEELS when he sees a Muslim in Muslim garb when he boards an airplane. Since when is quoting someone and saying how you feel in a situation grounds for termination? Should we all have to lie and say we aren’t uncomfortable in certain situations? He didn’t act on those feelings; how can we have open discussion if we can’t discuss our thoughts and feelings?

NPR, “National Proletarian Radio”

NPR is hostile to real American interests and values

NPR is a left-wing agitprop group funded with OUR tax dollars

NPR cannot permit balanced rational discussions of serious issues — they pretend to make some of their programs sound “calm and reasonable” but if you follow the info and opinions presented, they are heavily slanted to the left

anytime they pretend to a bit of “balance” they present conservative and American ideals in an unfavorable light

NPR should be abolished — no public funds for leftist agitprop!!!!

Amazing, Juan Willima's is more liberal than O'Reilly. waht kind of power does Woopie dreeadlocks and the behart sister act really have? Strange how that played out almost to a "T" the way I was bounced from a liberal BASEBALL site becuase theirlame liberal goofballs kept telling me I was a paranoid freak to think shar'ia law would be in US courts three years ago, that Illegals in AZ should be sent home on Calderone's dime, that blacks, Mexicans and Asians CAN be and ARE racist and then the last straw, that Islam at it's very roots is evil, a book about allowing blood to flow from infidels for the pleasure of a pathetic god of stone while the BIBLE is a true story of G!D's true love to man where a thin scarlet thread sliced through history, a sacrifice both horrid and fulfilling and the Lamb of G!D resurrected and in the end every knee will bow and every tongue confess and those worthy will not have 72 virgins but we'll all be so humbled and thankful we'll cast our crowns upon the glassy sea.

The muzzie "freedom" fighters are winning the propoganda war having torn the pages from Hitlers lies regarding Sudetenland and Obama doesn't have to do a thing, the more he acts as a loose cannon the easir the terroists can move freely and insert thier lies into schools, into libraries, into history books in colleges into the chambers of law and all over inside the White House.

I was labeled an Islamophobe, a bigot, a racist and then the banning, ha and I'm a nobody, but oh man they chopped off my head so I could no longer speak. Juan Williams now, Bill O'Reilly next; soon Fox will hire Mr Fair and Balanced himself Al Frnaken. Beck will end up at Bellevue and Hannity will go to jail for one thing or another....it's all Saudi money rememeber sarc/ Sad about William's; maybe he'll cut the semi liberal BS and start cutting Obama to the bone, and all them muzzies too.

I have always liked Juan, even if I agree with practically nothing he sais. Always seemed a good guy to me. I seem to remember a couple times where he was almost beginning to see the light, and was mugged by democrats for it. I think this time, he may finally get it.

On Special Report last night, Juan made a great point during a discussion of Merkel's statement about "multiculturalism" not working. He said--paraphrasing--that it is ironic that Europeans have often mocked the US for its tradition of assimilating immigrants into its culture by having them learn English and see themselves more as Americans than members of a particular cultural or national group.

As Juan pointed out, Europe has not, for the most part, encouraged assimilation, and now has large populations of immigrants who live in isolated communities and evidence little desire to see themselves as citizens of the nation in which they live. And--as Juan also pointed out--they are now realizing the dangers these populations pose to the survival of their way of life.

Bet that did not sit well with NPR, either.

Juan is a liberal who often points out this nation's shortcomings. But--unlike Obama--he is NOT ashamed to be called an American.

I just hope he's not ashamed of being fired by NPR--and sees that action for what it is: craven cowardice masquerading as "political correctness."

Apparently Juan took AG Eric Holder seriously when the AG said America is a nation of cowards. Now Juan knows what happens when you speak your mind and it doesn't fit approved liberal PC-speak.

De fund the Corp. for Public Broadcasting..

great idea and I just fired off a message to NPR that I will be contacting Congress about that subject and we will have a NEW Congress in 2011 that hopefully will take an interest in where our Tax dollars go.

We have seen this kind of depraved, loathsome political correctness all over our public and private lives for 30+ years now, and it’s gotten worse and worse with the kow-towing to Islamo-fascists, illegals, and every variety of un-American scumbag!!

NPR has no business taking public tax funding and discriminating against free expression of reasonable viewpoints. No, they don’t have to put just anyone on the air, but once they have found someone meets their “standards” (such as they are) for many years it is especially ridiculous to suddenly announce that one or a few remarks critical of Islamo-fascism could be grounds for termination.

Screw the agitprop scumbags, they need to be defunded and shut down — if leftists want to fund them privately they are welcome to, it is (or used to be) a free country, but our tax dollars should not be going to leftist propaganda.
