Posted on 10/21/2010 4:08:53 PM PDT by KingofZion
The bulldozer driver who crushed to death American activist Rachel Corrie seven years ago struggled Thursday just to recall her name.
"It's Rachel-something," he testified in a Haifa courtroom. "Carrie?"
The former Israeli reservist's courtroom appearance, his first public comments since the college student's 2003 death, was expected to be the dramatic climax of the Corrie family's long-running civil lawsuit against the Israeli government. But during more than four hours of testimony, the 38-year-old Russian immigrant, speaking from behind a screen to hide his identity, said he remembered little about that day and the young woman he ran over.
*** The driver insisted that he never saw the 23-year-old Washington state resident until her friends rushed over to dig her body out of the dirt. He said he couldn't remember the time of day when his bulldozer rolled over Corrie and then backed up over her a second time.
*** Corrie's parents, Craig and Cindy Corrie, said his vague, sometimes flippant responses were hard for them to take.
"He sounds like he has not given much thought to this in the past seven years," said Cindy Corrie, her voice cracking slightly and tears welling up in her eyes. "That's hard to hear, since for us, Rachel is in every day, every hour, every moment. How could you not remember the time of day? If I killed somebody, I would surely know when it happened."
It's not that the family expected the driver's testimony would bring comfort or solace, Corrie said. But for years the family has anticipated and simultaneously dreaded the day when they would finally hear directly from the man who ran over their youngest child.

Carrie? Carrie? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
The parents expected some tearful expression of remorse with a heartfelt plea for forgiveness and all they got was Rachel something.
The Corrie family is a bunch of leftist shits. Their daughter was a soldier in the International Solidarity Movement, an anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian activist group who is aiding the enemies of Israel.
Rachel Corrie got stupid and got turned into a human marxist pancake. Sorry, that’s life. Remember 9/11!
I don't obsess over the squirrel I hit a couple years ago either.
did this naive fool stand in front of or lay in its path?
I’ve heard it both ways,
Driver’s testimony falls flat with Corrie family.
Man, that’s just flat-out sad.
Sounds like he had NO IDEA she was under his machine. I’m sure he’s going through his own hell once he found out.
Not his fault. I feel more bad for him than I do her or her family.
One less leftist in the world. We didn’t care then, why would we care now?
May she rot in Hell.
The first, voluntary, the second, involuntary and resultant of the first.
The evidence supplied by Corrie’s lawyers was quite thin.
I think the Corrie family’s attorney will probably move to have his testimony squashed ;-)
LOL! I just knew the bulldozer driver was Russian. I never heard the fact about it before today though.
Man, until you meet the 'rough' version of Russians, especially Russian Jews, you haven't met a Russian. The furniture movers who came to move me from one state to another were all Russians and they were hulking Cossacks who were dead grim serious. Like they were born tough. As in, think of the toughest guy you've ever met in your life and these Russians would have been tougher than him at fifteen years old. Out of central casting tough. The kind of Russian mobsters who are now taking over South Brooklyn and scaring away the original mobsters who lived there comfortably.
I can just imagine a Russian just like these guys not stopping his armored bulldozer for no hippie American girl from Seattle if he was ordered to mash a Palestinian terrorist's home flat with his Caterpillar.
“Oh, you mean terrorist sympathizer pancake #67? Yeah, I remembered her...double thump and a bump which is far different from the ka-bump thump I feel when driving over a Palestinian with a rocket”
College student? Where was she enrolled? And how were her grades?
I would bet the farm that she was not an enrolled student. At 23? She should have learned a few more things in kindergarten.
You know, they say I'm kinda two dimensional too.
Like I said in the moovie..
"I'll be flat."
Get it? Flat!
You've gotta ask yourself a question:
"Do I feel lucky?"
Well, do ya, Corrie?
I have names for the grease spots on the street in front of my home. Rachel is the one that won’t go away.
Why should he? It's not his fault your daughter was a brainwashed idiot it's yours. There is no reason for him to torture himself with guilt over her stupid actions.
He and Rachel sound like soul mates.
I want to know why she wasn’t ticketed for
“Failure to yield right of way.”
Driver's testimony lays egg?
Parent are suing the wrong party.
They should be suing the Palestinian smugglers who used heir daughter as tool!!
Nice to check on this trial so as to get the latest skinnie.
I'm just trying to imagine such a guy with an armored D-9, and license to doze at will. Wow.
I did swerve for the skunk roadkill last week.
The roadstains smell a week later...
If they are looking for sympathy they can find it between sh*t and syphilis in the dictionary.
The parents are the people principally responsible for this poor kid’s death. The ways you rear and transmit values to your kids have consequences. It is natural that mom and dad would seek to blame others, but they put Rachel on the road the led to the accident. How sad.
"He sounds like he has not given much thought to this in the past seven years," said Cindy Corrie, her voice cracking slightly and tears welling up in her eyes. "That's hard to hear, since for us, Rachel is in every day, every hour, every moment. How could you not remember the time of day? If I killed somebody, I would surely know when it happened."Too bad her mommy can't ask Rachel whether she could remember how many Jews were murdered while she cheered on the murderers.
I think we should do something to help immortalize this youung lady with a nomination for a suitable award.
—Just in case once was not enough. Bravisimo!!

By necessity the Israeli Military Cat D9's are heavily armored.
These pics give a good idea of the limited visibility the operator has.
Corrie's demise is on the shoulders of the murdering muslims and her own twisted
leftist philosophy and poor judgement. The time when her parents' concern might
have helped was before she developed her ill informed, vile, racist, anti-Jewish hate.
You have that mostly right. The German Jews first immigrated here. They were richer and more refined. They called the later arriving cruder Russian Jews kikes. My heritage is half Russian Jew so I’m just saying.....
I’m not so sure he “went through Hell” about it. Remember he’s a Russian emigrant and, let’s face it, Russian Jews have had to be plenty tough over the years just to survive.
I believe him when he said he didn’t see her, so I doubt he feels the slightest guilt. I wouldn’t. It was an accident. Accidents happen.
This whole purpose of this legal action is so the Corries can manipulate someone into feeling guilty about her death, in spite of the fact it was cause by the deceased herself.
Gee, this article isn’t at all biased...
The driver didn’t “run over” the idiot girl. He was driving a military vehicle with a limited view, and she made the decision to stand in front of it.
It reminds me of a quote from Douglass Adams’ “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”
Mr. Prosser: “Do you know how much damage this bulldozer would sustain if I just let it roll over you?”
Arthur: “How much?”
Mr. Prosser: “None at all. “
I have no pity or sympathy for the idiot girl or her family. My sympathy is for the driver and his family, as well as the members if the IDF who have taken heat over this.
Evergreen College - leftist diploma mill for activists.
I would feel tremendous guilt if I unkowingly took any life or for that matter ever took a life at all.
That would be one tough dozer to operate. Almost no visibility as not only is there very little glass it’s all broken up into very small panes. I’m guessing where they use these D9’s you don’t have to be all that precise.
