Why did NRA give pro-gun candidate an 'F'?(GA)
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 21 October, 2010 | David Codrea

Posted on 10/22/2010 5:08:18 AM PDT by marktwain

2nd Amendment – I have fond memories of my first job at the age of 12 loading skeet at the gun club my father and grandfather were members of. They taught me at an early age about the 2nd Amendment, which guarantees the right to keep and bear arms. I personally own firearms and hold a Georgia Firearms License. I will never vote to restrict your right to carry and I fully support HB 615.--Diana Williams

There is a candidate for the state senate in Georgia who has answered on the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund's questionnaire (see slide show) that:

* She believes the Second Amendment is an individual right. * Rather than adding restrictive legislation, she believes gun laws should be improved to benefit gun owners. * She opposes gun bans. * She opposes licensing gun owners. * She opposes semi-auto and magazine bans. * She opposes private sale and transfer restrictions. * She opposes firearm registration. * She believes GA concealed carry laws are confusing and prefers "shall not be infringed." * She supports concealed carry in unsecured airport areas. * She opposes microstamping. * She opposes mandated "smart guns." * She opposes "one gun a month" laws. * She supports campus carry. * She opposes "lock up your safety" laws. * She supports range protection. * She opposes .50 caliber bans. * She supports hunting and believes regulations should have verifiable justification. * She supports liability protections for landowners who allow hunting on their property. * While not a member of the NRA, her husband is.

So why did NRA-PVF give her an "F"? (Click on State Senate tab and scroll down to District 43.)

Sounds like the NRA needs to correct this mistake.

The NRA has been flaky lately. Gun Owners of America is a more consistent group.

They called me last night looking for money....I told them I don't give money to organizations that support communists and hung up.....The NRA is dead as far as I'm concerned.

The NRA called me on Sunday to try and coax me back into the organization.

The rep asked me why I had let my membership lapse, and I told him bluntly that I did not appreciate its Rat endorsements and was not about to support them with my money.

He then informed me that the NRA had not in fact endorsed Harry Reid, but I replied that it had in fact endorsed 58 other Rats.

The rep came back with a weasly answer about the necessity of supporting pro-2nd Amendment candidates of both parties. But after he realized that he was getting no where with me, he hung up.

The NRA exists solely to perpetuate the existence of the NRA. They serve no one but themselves.

That said, Heston is still MY president.

Yep. When the last guy to call me for the purpose of shaking me down saw that he wasn’t getting anywhere he just hung up without a “thanks for your time” or anything else.

That’s the permit required in Georgia to legally carry a handgun outside one’s home or place of business. Some states call them concealed carry permits, but in Georgia it’s required whether you conceal or carry openly.

Actually, with the 2010 changes to the law, it’s now called a Georgia Weapons License, as the state preemption law was expanded to cover some knives. But that’s a very recent change.

Marking this thread for later.

Would not surprise me that the NRA has been bought out by the Liberal Globalist types who want to seize everyone’s weapons. Too many bizarre endorsements of late to consider this an aberration

I always hear people say “where would we be without the NRA”?

Yeah, where would gun owners be without decisions like this?

I honestly think no NRA would be better than the current NRA. They work AGAINST gun owners and gun ownership rights much of the time.

We need a segment of the Tea Party devoted to Gun Rights.....that I could support.

I am done with the NRA.

The NRA is still not perfect.
They still make mistakes.
Politics is still much sausage-making.

“not perfect”?????

Stop with the sausage making analogy......that is disingenuous. They are voting for dems who supported obamacare, which was written entirely by Progressives and will one day be a gun grabbing scheme.

If they cannot see the obvious, they do not deserve the support of ANY gun owners.

I just got my NRA monthy mag - election edition - and they got all the right endorsements and grades for every election being held in Wisconsin.

Can’t complain from a state perspective and the NRA has been highly focused on Wisco of late - I think Wisco will be the next feather in their cap for gun rights, especially once we have Scott Walker in the Govenor’s seat.

Also in this edition they had national election endorsements and right ups - I did not see one that I had a problem with.

That said, I was specifically looking for who they endorsed in W. Virginia as I’ve heard they endorsed the Rat in that state. There was zero mention of W. Virginia in my copy...

Anyway - my two pennies...

Obviously the NRA is conspiring with the Brady campaign and VPC to maintain threats to gun owners so people will contribute more money. At least that’s what some moron posted recently.

"So why did NRA-PVF give her an "F"?"

Good question. Did David Codrea bother to call the NRA and ask?

Has anyone, before passing summary judgement?

I can’t believe the NRA gave a C rating to my state house rep and state sen. Cabral and Montigny are complete moonbats on any issue never mind the 2nd Amendment. Both of these guys would ban water pistols if the could.

Thanks, that makes sense. I’m used to them being called a concealed weapons permit.
