Reports: Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee Broke Laws at Polling Place, Harassed Poll Watchers
Friday, October 22, 2010 | Kristinn

Posted on 10/22/2010 10:19:13 AM PDT by kristinn

There are two reports that Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) violated electioneering laws inside a polling place and harassed poll watchers at the Acres Home Multiservice Community Center on October 18th.

Liberty Pundits has two eyewitness anonymous sources, a poll watcher and an election clerk, who describe Rep. Jackson Lee speaking with and shaking hands of voters inside a polling place located in the same building as her district office and getting in the faces of poll watchers

KPRC 950 host Michael Berry (@28:45) interviewed Houston poll watcher Catherine Engelbrecht of King Street Patriots/True The Vote on October 19th about what was relayed to her by poll watcher Marcia Ferguson.

Engelbrecht said that the poll watcher complained to the election judge that Jackson Lee was violating the law by campaigning inside the polling place by shaking hands with voters waiting in line to vote.

Engelbrecht did not know the whole story of what happened other than the poll watcher complaining.

Liberty Pundits had a fuller account from their sources who asked for anonymity for their safety:

So the source, a poll watcher, went into the room housing the voting booths and there stood Congresswoman Lee shaking hands with voters and greeting others–clearly electioneering. The poll watcher then went to one of the clerks and asked the presiding judge to take care of it.

While this occurred, the poll watcher heard Lee loudly say to the crowd in the voting area,”I’ve heard a lot of complaints about voter intimidation by poll watchers. I am not going to allow voter intimidation.”

The poll watcher started writing the incident down.

Lee then went to the poll watcher and asked,”What’s your name? Who do you represent?”

A poll watcher is not allowed to speak in the polling area, so directed Congresswoman Lee to the presiding judge. The poll watcher said that Congresswoman Lee indicated that she wanted names to report to the Department of Justice for voter intimidation.

The presiding judge asked Congresswoman Lee to leave.

... This account is backed up by another worker there, an election clerk, who also wished to remain anonymous for fear of retribution. He relayed concern for his safety.

The election clerk described the poll watchers as timid. He said that they stayed out of the way, were quiet and and did not talk to any voters.

He confirms that Congresswoman Lee was, in fact, back near the voting booths and talking to the presiding judge but he did not overhear her conversation but saw her from a distance. He estimated that Sheila Jackson Lee was within 10 feet of the voting machines but was not herself voting. He also witnessed Congresswoman Lee talking to the poll watcher but again, could not hear the contents of the conversation.

The clerk corroborated the poll watcher’s report that there were consistent election law violations in the polling places.

There have been no reports in the media about this reported egregious violation of the law by by a U.S. Congresswoman.

“I’m Joe Six-pack and I represent the American People” might’ve elicited an interesting response.

Gerrymandering of districts. The EEO/AA of politics.

That was actually a Dick Nixon idea, and counterintuitively brilliant. 'Course, it means I'm totally deprived of representation, and in fact anti-represented ("dispresented"? "malpresented"?), since I live in Queenie's district. (Note: It's her district, I just live here.)

Long conversation, but actually it's about containing the damage that race-baiters like Jackson Lee and Cynthia McKinney do, while increasing their clown factor and disreputability by encouraging them to "act out".

A country-club racist solution, actually.

It's about time that 'Rats who flagrantly violate election laws are arrested, indicted, prosecuted, and convicted for their crimes, regardless of the titles they may possess!

"No man is above the law and no man is below it; nor do we ask any man's permission when we ask him to obey it." -Theodore Roosevelt. That goes for women as well, Ms. Lee!

She keeps getting elected because she’s in one of the poorest districts in the area. High crime, low income, filthy area where most are on complete government handouts.

It was never wholly that way, at least for the 27 years I've lived here. Our part of her district is now 70% new "townhouses", on recycled 25' X 100' lots, that sell for $400K. Some of the fancier joints exceeding $1 mil. Lots of Beemers, Mercedes, Land Rovers and even a few Lincoln Town Cars like mine. Plenty of money here - and a lot of it going to John Faulk, her opponent.

Freepers that know who we can contact; a telephone number or website to report the voter fraud starting right now would be very helpful.

Until we know where to send the information, perhaps Drudge, Breitbart, Rush, Levin might be a start.

How about DeMint’s office or Michelle Bachmann’s office.

Walk outside the polling site, call law enforcement and file a complaint against the person before they leave or try to get their license number. Would that work?

Sure, if you can do it. It’s crazy at the polls on election day. I worked 12 hours straight without a bathroom break at the primary. I’ve gone 14 hours before.

That is why I voted early (absentee) because it may be too crazy, busy to take time to vote on election day, even though I am working my own precinct.

High crime, low income, filthy area where most are on complete government handouts. The only free enterprise going on in that area is selling drugs.

And it's true that the "power structure" has repeatedly consigned the whole area -- even the upscale stores in Northwest Mall like Palais Royale offer less selection, poorer selection, and downmarket products; Penney's and Foley's (now Macy's) have shut, as have B. Dalton and Waldenbooks.

But the area's regentrifying, with lots of new houses being built in older neighborhoods from the 40's, so it's a footrace between detached-housing neighborhoods' stalwart performance (helped by their civic clubs and homeowners' associations and intelligent redevelopers) on the one hand, and the steady decay of existing apartment projects being shoved down-market by new construction (over 3000 apartments in one two-mile stretch in the last four years). The Section 8 apartment-dwellers are the criminals. We're starting to see them walking at night on the boulevards now -- individual men in wife-beaters and basketball jerseys, just walking. And every time a potential buyer drives through the area and sees those guys out walking .....

Oh, and the swells on Pardons and Paroles upstate keep dumping releasees here, and have just added a couple more "halfway houses" (call 'em "round-trip houses" instead, it'd be more accurate) and filled them with the state's dross and dumpings.

So the rich people have decided we're the dungpile of the state, but we keep refusing to conform to their expectations.

I’m betting they have great “civic responsibility” though, showing up at a rate of 110% to vote.

Sadly our Big cities are full of entitlement types that love socialist turds like her.

You are exactly right. That is why we did not buy a house in Houston when my wife's job went there. We moved to a smaller burb without all those problems. All my wife's co-workers ask "why do you want to live so far from work"
She just smiles at them!
