Here’s the big question, how did Marine 1 make it to LA?

"Marine 1" is the designation for any rotor aircraft that is currently carrying the President. It is possible that he used one that was based locally. It is also possible that it was transported cross-country in a large fixed-wing aircraft.

Marine One is the designation for any Marine Corps rotary winged aircraft that is carrying the President.

It is possible that he used one that was based locally.

Incorrect. All of HMX-1s aircraft are based at MCAF Quantico.

It is also possible that it was transported cross-country in a large fixed-wing aircraft.

C-5 or C-17 is the usual mode of transport.
