...and of course in a few years, Bush will be th 1st former Prez to have his SS detail ended. The idiots in Congress need to rethink that change. I assume they will for Obama.

The Secret Service actually arrests someone for trying to kill a REPUBLICAN?

I guess the Director of the SS didn’t get that memo from Obama.

I bet he gets fired over this case.

From the article: shortly after the telephone call Rotunno turned himself into the Owego police.

If he turned himself into the police, does that mean he arrested himself as well? Was it the entire force or the station he turned into? Perhaps he turned into a cruiser or a canine officer. Oh, the unanswered questions.

One would think the brilliant journalist who wrote this article would realize turning oneself into something else entirely would be the much bigger story here. Focus writer, focus.

I don’t understand your point. The phrase has been used as a accepted way of saying a suspect surrendered to the police for decades.

“”Bush will be the 1st former Prez to have his SS detail ended.””

I never did know why the lifetime SS security ended with Clinton but I can guess who had a hand in that - LOL! Only 10 years for every president after 2000....

I personally think 10 years would have been enough for all of them or if given a vote, I’d have said 5 and that’s it!

My point is grammar. He did not turn himself “into” anything. He turned himself in to the Owego police. Get it? A person aspiring to the position journalist (or any career involving written communication) certainly should.

Ah, now I see it. Your eyes are sharper than mine. Good catch.
