Hatch: 'I'm no Bob Bennett' (RINO running scared ahead of potential 2012 challenge from Tea Party)
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2010-10-15 | Michael O'Brien

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) stressed Friday he has no intentions of following down the path of his Utah colleague, Sen. Bob Bennett (R).

During an appearance on Bloomberg's "Political Capital With Al Hunt" set to air this weekend, Hatch, who's up for reelection in 2012, talked down the prospect of losing to a conservative primary challenger the way Bennett did earlier this year.

“I like Bob Bennett. I felt like he was a great senator. But I'm no Bob Bennett," Hatch said of his colleague, who lost at a state party convention to Mike Lee, the new GOP candidate for Senate and probable victor in the state's Senate race.

Hatch is one of a crop of veteran GOP senators who are looking to learn lessons from the 2010 primary cycle, which saw incumbent senators such as Bennett and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) lose their primary races against insurgent conservative activists tied to the Tea Party movement.

The veteran senator said he's already begun reaching out to his state's Tea Partiers and stressed his conservatism relative to the forcibly retired Bennett.

Hatch knows his political days are numbered! We here in Northern Utah have had it with him!

Bears repeating

You are being very kind.
I firmly believe this best pal of the Swimmer is senile, and has been for a while. So also Mclame,Lugar,Grassley and others. The other side has more senile senators (and reps) than we do,if that helps cheer anyone up!Sheesh!

Actions speak louder than words. I don't expect these veteran GOP senators to grow a spine when they've already demonstrated they don't have one. Fool me once, shame on you ... fool me twice, shame on me - there isn't going to be a second chance for these jelly fish.

Well said. If the “tsunami” hits this Tuesday, I’m wondering just what DAMAGE he and others like him (McCain) will cause to the people who are honestly trying to get this government back on track.

The man will be 78 in 2012. He will have been there for 37 years. Utah is chock full of qualified conservatives who can take his place.

Those three facts are prima facie evidence that Hatch is too attached to the seat for the country’s good.

Also, any pal of Ted Kennedy has already shown that he doesn’t get it.

The Rinos are running for cover. That is a good sign.

But Rinos, as we see with Juan McLame, lie inside and out when they are afraid of losing their positions of power. In addition, the GOP is trying to add a loud and proud Rino from California to the Senate herd.

LOL. Life is good when Orrin sees the Tea Party written on the walls of Congress.

“I like Bob Bennett. I felt like he was a great senator.”

Hatch, you have shown your true colors time and time again.

You are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

And your attempts to spin yourself the next two years as a constitutionalist/consistent conservative is going to get you nowhere.

LOL. Looking to learn a lesson? LOL! The only lesson hatch has learned is he best start pretending he is a republican, or his high life might disappear. Screw hatch, and the rest of his "let's get along" loser republicans. Has the Republican party just figured out we are cleaning house? Out of touch, moron, don't read the internet losers....the MSM is gone, you may start kissing our butts now. We're the tsunami.......

Strap a couple of JATO solid fuel rockets on Orrin's RINO butt and fire him in the general direction of Utah.

When they burn out, hit the “destruct” button to clear the range for McCain, Snowe, Collins, Graham, et. al. Nothing like a dramatic send off for these RINO losers.

>>A few of us here in Utah have other plans for Brother Hatch no matter what his intentions are.<<

Glad to hear that. When he supported the DREAM idea for illegals it ticked me off big time.

Hatch is a denizen of the beltway. He has beltway loyalties and values even though he once was a conservative. Maybe he can get back in touch with his roots, before he runs again. We'll see.

I will not support Lugar ever again. Hopefully we can find a strong candidate to take him out in the Primary.
