At a debate sponsored by the Illinois League of Women Voters between Democratic incumbent Rep. Melissa Bean, GOP challenger Joe Walsh and Green Party candidate Bill Scheurer Wednesday, the audience loudly objected when the moderator, Kathy Tate-Bradish, insisted on proceeding without reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. In the end, she didnt stand a chance against the 300-member audience. The camera captures Republican Joe Walshs reaction:
Ms. Tate-Bradish reportedly scolded the crowd after the pledge ended, blaming the outburst on the Republican candidate. The LWV executive director, Jan Czarnik, also condemned the Pledges recitation, telling the local news, Its a phony patriotism issue is what it is, she said. [Republicans] must think it helps their campaign.
Both LWV have been active members of the progressive movement. Ms. Tate-Bradish was an active supporter of Barack Obamas presidential campaign and even hosted campaign events for the then-Senator in her own home.
Ms. Czarnik is a former ACORN Project Vote worker and has been involved in the progressive People for the American Way, but as blogger Jeff Dunetz notes, these former affiliations would surely in no way lead her to unfairly criticize a Republican candidate, right?

Not too proud of her country. If it IS her country.
Didn’t this happen to 0bama during the campaign? Some photographer yelled out, let’s do the pledge of allegiance, and 0bama said, didn’t we already do that? We always start these rallies that way!
Then they did it for real.
But a rousing stanza of the “Internationale” would have given ACORN some ‘wood’.
This article leaves out her claim of being “disrespected” by this outrage.
Yes, it was a personal insult to her that the crowd said the pledge. Probably a bunch of racists, too.
Since only minorities can be victims of hate crimes, and
since only ‘whites’ can be racists ...
Does that mean that only minorities can be genuinely disrespected?
I have absolutely nothing for or against saying the pledge of allegiance at the beginning of something like this, but
" but, but, Oh, Never Mind!"
To hell with “former ACORN”, Jan Czarnik. She can take her commie @$$ to North Korea if she doesn’t like it.
The spontaneous Pledge of Allegiance was one of the best pieces of Americana I’ve seen in a long time. How in the world can the League of Women Voters even attempt to think they are connected with the American public with the position the emcee took.
We need to start doing this all the time whether the podium-punchers agree with it or not.
The progressives want to shove their views down our throats, its damn past time we shoved back.
Yeah. And then some.
Speak Truth to Power-—NO! Scream Truth to Power!
Yep!
They prefer that they sing the “Internationale.” Hoist the Soviet Banner High. < / ridicule and derision of acorn
Isn’t she special?
The League of Women Voters , the UN, and the Chamber of Commerce were all chartered at about the same time and all have the same GLOBAL agenda.
