This is a crack-up. Can you imagine how peeved Obama must be about this? The Messiah less influential than a faux news TV anchor!
Most influential man in 2010—though in getting the opposite of what he wanted accomplished—was Barry.
Most influential woman in 2010—getting exactly what she wanted done—was Sarah.
Rush Limbaugh
The difference between the two is that Limbaugh uses intelligent political analysis to educate his listeners. Stewart uses ridicule and comedy to promote a certain political point of view. Plus, Rush is waaaay smarter than Stewart.
“claimed the No. 1 spot in an annual survey of about 500,000 readers of AskMen (http://www.askmen.com), a men’s lifestyle website.”
AskMen. How influential are they? What trend have they started?
I get your point, but the difference to me (and the reason I brought it up) is that Rush would chuckle good-naturedly at the comparison while jon stewart, due to a lack of personal honesty, would be incensed.
Oh yeah...he is SO infulential that the dems will hold both House and Senate...now that is some infulence.
It’s not Rush. If Rush were suddenly off the air would you still be a conservative? I know I would. Rush preaches to the choir and is entertaining in doing so but I don’t think he’s “influential” in that way.
Now a name that has suddenly cropped up in my mind that I didn’t think of before is Matt Drudge.
Stewart will also have politicians on his program and when Jon’s stuck for an answer to something the guest has said, will respond “you do realize that this is a COMEDY showww.”.
It’s nothing but memes. If you challenge the talking points, the crew doesn’t have a quick humorous picture to throw in there.
FReepers are funnier as a lot.
Named most influential by a magazine with a circulation of two dozen or so....
The only reason Stewart is supposed to have “influence” is that the leftist MSM loves his snarky leftist attitude. They’re the ones who keep calling him “influential”. Most people don’t know who Stewart is, or watch his show, or give a shit what some late-night cable TV host thinks. He’s considered hip and trendy by the elite people desperate to be considered hip and trendy themselves, but his only “influence” is on people who already agree with him.
In answer to your earlier question about who I think is “influential”, I’d have to say Obama, since he’s the most powerful person in the world. (unfortunately)
“What trend have they started?”
Man bags.
Who is Jon Stewart “preaching to”, if not young-to-middle-aged ‘intellectuals’?
Limbaugh has much more influence on American life than does Jon Stewart, who has a 1/2 cable show with a fraction of Limbaugh’s audience. I don’t recall Jon Stewart being called out by the opposition on the floor of the House or Senate; some loony Dem does this to Limbaugh once a month or so. Hell, the phony President even lectured the GOP congresscritters not to listen to Limbaugh, because “that’s not how DC works.”
Who? Was that the guy who played the villain in Spiderman 2? Maybe it's not Tiger Beat, but People magazine seems a likely source.
“And this is reason number 554 that the Republic is teetering on the brink of collapse.”
My thoughts as well. No wonder we are in the fix we are in...
Jon Stewart is making millions of dollars!
Think about that while you’re job hunting/struggling to pay your inflated taxes. :)
Good point.
That’s why it’s a barf alert. Because this shallow entertainer does influence a lot of people.
How major that influence is is open to question. Most of the people who watch him are already in the liberal camp.
