Crist's Resurrection?
The Daily Caller ^ | 10/26/10 | Mike Riggs

Posted on 10/26/2010 12:50:04 PM PDT by chad_in_georgia

Did Rep. Kendrick Meek and Gov. Charlie Crist plot Monday to join forces?

No, says Team Meek. “Let me check into it,” says Team Crist.

In other words, there’s still no straight answer to the question haunting Florida’s Senate election: What would happen if either Meek or Crist dropped out of the race and endorsed his fellow? Republican candidate Marco Rubio leads both men in the polls. Were their powers combined, Rubio might find himself in a dead heat with Kendrick Crist, or Charlie Meek.

While reports of a meeting between the two men are fresh, the rumors that Meek would drop out in order to clear the way for a left-leaning Crist began two weeks ago, says a Meek campaign staffer.

“We said this when these rumors began a week ago, two weeks ago, and obviously Kendrick has said it in his own words: He’s running with two feet forward. “

The Daily Caller contacted representatives for both campaigns after a tipster claimed that Meek and Crist disappeared for a private talk at Monday’s AIPAC event in Hollywood, Fla. Neither campaign confirmed the private meeting, but a Meek rebuffed the rumors that have been floating through Florida’s political circles.

“We know the Crist campaign has pushed the rumor that [Meek] is dropping out. Those rumors were bought and paid for by Charlie Crist U.S. Senate,” the staffer said.

“Today on the radio [Meek] gave a very strong, impassioned speech about why he’s going to be the next senator from Florida. His debate performances have always been of a passionate engaged candidate who’s running to win. From our standpoint, since this began, has anything changed in this campaign?”

When called for comment Crist spokesman Danny Kanner told TheDC, “Candidates get together and say things. Let me check into it.”

Too late to matter much.

Even if Meek dropped out, he’d still be on the ballot and get enough votes that Rubio still wins.

Seems a little late as absentees and early voting is already underway. It is hard to picture either of these two surpassing Rubio as he is already close to 50% in a 3 way race. If Crist drops out, at least some would drift back to Rubio, not to the far left candidate. If Meek drops out, it might boost Crist some but probably not enough to win the most votes. It also would destroy Sink and the rest of the Dem ticket.

Did they meet at the Green Iguana, by any chance? They serve a wicked Mimosa, I hear.

Isn’t early voting heavy in FL as well?

One would think it’s too late, what with early voting and all three names on the ballot.

They’re a day late and a dollar short. Rubio wins regardless of what they do.

Agreed - Some polls show Rubio at close to or at 50% anyway... Won’t matter...

Sorry, Charlie.

Not happening- the ballots are printed, votes have been cast in early voting and Charlie is going DOWN.

This is only a rehash of an old discredited rumor. Nothing new.

And the article does not even rise to the title.

Sorry I clicked on it.

My wife and I already sent in our ballots for Crist...........yeah right, we never liked that man. The only votes Crist ever got from our family was when he was running for governor and that was truly while holding our noses. Marco Rubio all the way!

I think Limbaugh may have written this piece as a joke. He commented on this, the “The Russians are not on the outskirts of Berlin” type propaganda pieces like this. The House is gone and this seat as well as Pa and Wis are goners for the Dems, period. There is no momentum the other way, it;s all Rat desperation with the help of the MSM allies. The narrative this weekend will be be to downplay the thorough as* kicking they are going to take. They sound like us this time back in 2008. Even the tone around DU is more realistic, the Polly Sunshines are being flamed off of there as delusional, you know it’s bad when they turn negative.
