California Nightmare-in'
The American Thinker ^ | October 27, 2010 | Sally Zelikovsky

It's November 3, 2010. You think you are waking up to a sunny California morning only to realize it's a dark, dark day. Jerry Brown is governor, Gavin Newsom is lieutenant governor, Kamala Harris is attorney general, and the rest of the Democrat ticket has prevailed. California is going to be controlled by San Francisco politics.

Got your attention now?

Tea Party folks have brought a refreshing candor to the conservative scene, demanding from conservative candidates a return to conservative principles. But we don't live in a perfect world. And in California, we live in a deeply skewed political landscape that requires finesse and strategic thinking to turn California red again. It cannot happen overnight, and those who try to make it happen today rather than tomorrow will be responsible for the worst-case, but not unlikely, nightmare scenario outlined above.

Many Tea Partiers aren't happy with the Republican choices for certain offices and are pushing voters to cast their ballots for last-minute conservative candidates who, they believe, more readily pass the conservative sniff test than some of their Republican counterparts. Admittedly, some of them just might be more conservative.

I live in California and I am sickened about the idiocy of my fellow Californians. I thought there was an ounce of hope. Nope. Their mostly a bunch of DOPES.

The only Republican on the ballot I am not voting for is Abel Maldonado. He permanently forfeited my vote when he voted with the DemonRats to pass the Arnold/Rat state budget.

Even if it means any-twosome-Newsome a heartbeat away from the governorship, I absolutely cannot vote for Maldonado. I will vote third party for Lt. Gov., but straight ticket R on the rest of the ballot.

I think Harris is going down. Steve is going to carry L.A country and a Dem is not going to win state wide without L.A

As previously said, either folks wake up and elect those that are not going to destroy Democracy or they live with the results. Seems like California is not only still in a coma but will be there after the revolution.

When things creep up on you, you don’t notice... If they happen overnight, they get your attention. California seems to have been the test for creeping Socialism for several years now and they have not only NOT noticed, but embraced it. They will be the first State to not only go bankrupt, but also wear the crown of the first State to ignore the Constitution.

California - you have been first in many things, but you should NOT be first here...

I’m just glad California is no longer my problem.

The way I see it, realistically, my choices are Newsome or Maldonado.

I voted for Maldonado.

True Californian! Your vote will count just as long as California remains free - and that is not that long from now.

You folks seem to think that Government, pensions, welfare, etc., is a free item from the Federal Government. You are soon to be persuaded otherwise. When people don’t have jobs, they can NOT contribute to you pensions.

Oh heck, I feel like I’m talking to Democrats anyway - they are not going to change until California goes under.

Take Bell (and it’s corruption) and multiply it by 100 and you have California going broke - bankrupt! You silly folks living there continue to think that the gravy will continue flowing forever...

Since California continues to vote for Democrats and refuses to face the consequences of its actions, you deserve what is coming. Good Luck!

The detriment is that it just may bring down the US with it!

Angela Davis as California’s Fair Political Practices Commission.

I’d like to see every Cal State Fire workers go on a two week strike next Santa Ana season in Aug.

What folks fail to realize is the importance of California’s electoral votes.

The other states will cover this states debts.

And the DNC knows it.

Jerry Brown is unbeatable... he is just well... California. The Republican bright spot is the Attorney General’s race - Kamala Harris’ position on the death penalty has hurt her.

The Golden State I think will be the exception to the Republican tsunami on Tuesday - it tilts so far Left, its no longer a bell-weather state.

The same exact treachery was rendered by Mike Villines ("R" running for Insurance Commissioner)...I won't be voting for him either.

I bet the California RINOS lose worse than the Delaware T-Partyer. I still think Delaware may be close. California is over the edge. They should be cut off from Fed money and allowed to go cold turkey. A total collapse would be a good lesson.

Californians should dig out for better states. At least get residency elsewhere. It will have to hit rock bottom before a comeback can begin.

Absolutely! I really don’t understand why so many continue to maintain residence there. I can understand the desire for the environment but when do taxes and regulations overcome that?

I’m actually surprised that enough of the highly taxed individuals stick around to provide the money for the rest of the Californians. The weather is grand but eventually the taxes and regulations will eventually force them to move out.

Then what will California do - raise taxes again?
