Bloomberg’s New York City gun laws continue to endanger the 'law-abiding'

“Mayor Bloomberg's plan to slash fees for pistol permits is facing a blaze of opposition in the City Council,” Sally Goldenberg of The New York Post reports.

What’s that? “Furious Mike,” the notorious anti-gunner plotting to impose Big Apple controls on Heartland America wants to “put more guns on the street”?

Not exactly. It seems this is a preemptive ploy, anticipating if they don't do something, they’ll be vulnerable to lawsuits in the post-Heller /McDonald era. But a comment from Councilman Erik Dilan (D-Brooklyn) is instructive:

Since I've been in the council, we've voted on numerous bills where fees and fines were increased and it would send a strange message to New Yorkers that the one fine we look to reduce is the fee and fine to permit a gun

“Fine”? Did a government official just admit the city extorts "a sum imposed as punishment for an offense" for exercising a Constitutionally-recognized right? Or does he just personally believe gun owners need to be punished, often, and by someone who knows how?

Even if the Council relents and this retribution reduction passes, they’ll look for a way to balance things out—what the city giveth, the city taketh away.

“New York City residents who want to own a gun may soon be denied permits if they are litterbugs, if they are bad drivers, or if they have fallen behind on a few bills,”Diane Macedo of Fox News tells us.

That’s certainly a draconian way to establish a “prohibited persons” list—why, even if lower-income residents find the reduced fees in the first bill make their fi…uh…permit more affordable, this sets up a net that can catch practically everybody! Ingenious! What devious minds thought that one up?

In Bloomberg and the ACLU believe the Bill of Rights only applies to criminals.

my pre-written response to all things Bloomberg:

Bloomers is a Crony-capitalist, nebbish, poor little rich boy, self hating jew, tiny buttwipe of a man...the only reason he is probably not a fag (the jury is still out) is that he has the greatest aphrodisiac of all time, billions of dollars....he decries the 2nd amendment, but whines about how the enemy’s first amendment rights to worship are being usurped....even though Islam is NOT a religion but a murder cult.. © Vaquero 2010

Of course they endanger the law-abiding. That is their intention! Seize guns from honest, law-abiding citizens and deliberately leave them in the hands of criminals.

They want criminals to just walk in and take what is “rightfully theirs.” Just a little “income redistribution.”

If people choose to live in a anti 2nd A environment that should be their choice. Nothing is keeping them in that mess.

The conversation I (CY)had Tuesday with an elderly black
gentleman (EBG) on 42nd street in Manhattan is apposite.
I sat down in the outside chair next to his. After nodding
he said:
EBG: Why don’t you read us some of your Bible there?
CY: (looking puzzled, not understanding)
EBG: Or is that a Bible? (looking closer at the blue red
and white cover of the small book I had)
CY: It’s a Constitution.
EBG: Well, read some of that.
CY: (reads the First Amendment and the Second, the latter
without the unnecessary prefatory phrase) “shall not be
infringed.
EBG: (after reflection)They don’t let *me* have so much
as a slingshot.
CY: It’s a real problem we have here.
EBG: ... well.. if more people had guns seems like more
people would be better behaved.
CY: An armed society is a polite society... be well.
EBG: Good day to you too.
