There was a warrant for the mans’ arrest. How is that unlawful?

The whole thing stinks to high heaven. You have to know that the county structure is “infested” with people in power who work together every day. Judges, lawyers, prosecutors cops. One big happy family. Do you really truly believe that just because an order is lawfully executed it is necessarily just? You are aware that people run these things? Do you understand that these creatures of government have a cozy good old boy thing going on?

Now the Pavlov dog thing. You are calling me reactionary. The writings of Thomas Jefferson, Lock, Paul Revere, etc etc etc are in line with my thinking. You think more like a Loyalist. You like the structure and trappings of government. You have faith that it works. I am more in line with the founders who believe that people are desperately evil. Government is made up of people. Therefore government is desperately evil. so their idea, based upon this premise was to create a constitutional structure designed to thwart the wielding of power. I applaud that. After 200 years though we have pretty much done away with constraints on government power. Government at all levels is too big. Too powerful. I want to frustrate government and starve it because it is made up of people. People are desperately evil. So your infestation of “losertarians” as you call it is really just classical liberalism. I hope that doesn’t confuse you. A liberal of today is not a classical liberal. He is quite a different animal.

Apologies for the long post. But a distrust of government is a healthy thing. Distrust of government is an American thing. The desire to frustrate government power is an institutional, constitutional thing. Not reactionary. Not a Pavlovian response.

Because much like fleas on a fine show stud, this grand forum is literally infested with cop-hating Losertarians.

Congratulations! You have been awarded the most devoted boot licker of the year medal, by the IPA.

Citizens have a lawful right to question authority. Especially when that authority might be corrupted. The fact you condemn, and would if you could, deny this natural right, is revealing.

I don’t think our Grunthor is a bad person. I believe that he is a young conservative. He has a great deal of faith in institutions. He is a sort of classical European style conservative, but with (i’m speculating here) social conservative values. He is the kind of conservative that can be educated.

You should probably explain what a “natural right” is.

It is un-natural, if not a crime, to not question govt abuse, at any level.

Only a tool of the corrupted would post in support of corruption.

Grunthor has been posting here for over 3 years. He/she knows exactly what a natural right is. It's not a new found discovery.

Having read some of grunthor's past posts, I am not as optimistic as you, regarding his/her ability to think rationally. Since what I see is a rewarded Pavlovian response in support of authority. His/her message being, we should all willfully submit to any whim of authority, regardless.

This is not what true blooded Americans do. You know it, I know it, all true red blooded Americans know it. But, convince grunthor? I don't even know if he/she is an American. It could be a muslim from Indonesia for all I know. Maybe it's time for grunthor to come out of the closet to explain his/her condemnation of the free American spirit?

I quit this thread earlier but since you insist on my commentary; I am a disabled 41 year old veteran of the Army National Guard, U.S. Army and local Police Departments.

I believe in freedom, and I believe in the responsibilities that come with that freedom.

I have noticed a disturbing upsurge in cop bashing threads since the election of 2008, as if with that election all cops became the enemy and figured this would be yet another one.

I believe that police abusing their power is wrong. I also believe that if you resist arrest, your punk ass will be taken down using any force the officer feels is necessary. Of course if you had not resisted arrest...well you probably know where I am going with that.

Not all cops are evil, not all citizens are saints. Assuming one or the other w/o getting both sides of each story is irresponsible, unfair and frankly stupid.

I believe that calling yourself a “Libertarian” just because you want to get stoned w/o being hassled “by the man” doesn’t make you any more enlightend than the crack addict peddling her @$$ on the corner.

Anything else you want to know, please freepmail me, I am not commenting further on this thread.

You leave it a bit confusing regarding which agency you served when becoming "disabled." Perhaps your disability was not a factor in any service. But still, thanks for coming out of the closet to feebly attempt to explain your position. However, you refuse to explain how it is you so emphatically, and willfully, condemn your fellow Americans for questioning authority.

So allow me to ask you point blank. Do you, or do you not, accept the right of natural law to question authority? Yes or no is all I am looking for. So don't give me "guilty with excuse." Simply respond, yes or no.

I do not live in Monroe county myself. But I am a life long resident of East Tennessee all 53 years. I'm a two service vet myself. That being said in "SOME" of these smaller counties things don't operate in the best interest of truth nor justice. Personally I almost went to the pokey myself in one of them because the judge did not like what I had to say about the defendant. I had a GOD given right and duty to say things I said to that defendant in the case I was involved in.

Look a lot of these smaller counties have some very bad problems. One or two prevailing law firms of which three quarters of the counties attorneys have worked for and the judges come from as well. I've spent far more hours in court for two years of my life and I never intend to spend another minute in another one unless by legal subpoena which some county clerks in East Tennessee can't seem to process either.

Twenty years for someone being a Grand Jury Foreman is wrong PERIOD. It should not happen as Juries are supposed to be chosen at random in this state usually by the voter registration, vehicle registration, or property tax rolls. Until I sat in a court room and heard what the Commander had to say I would not pass judgment. The bad part is a jury hearing the case will not hear the whole truth. Lawyers determine truth far too many times and I've seen both side in a case write fiction to please a judge and not one word of a judges final opinion be based on truth or facts of that case.

It is not hard to anger a judge. I about went to jail myself because some jackass standing in front of me badgered me to a point to where I verbally flew back. The judge didn't like that. The judge also violated several things including my First and fifth amendment rights. Till you've faced a rural Tennessee court and judge you might be wise to hold off judging the commander too harsh.

I also I strongly encourage you to read about a true event in a county next too Monroe County IIRC called The Battle of Athens Tennessee era mid 1940's. Some coutrt houses in East Tennessee have long standing reputations of being far removed from the balance of justice. Maybe a Monroe County Freeper can shed more light perhaps.

BTW I too am disabled. A disability which would make testifying difficult without some assistance. In the case I was involved in I informed It’s honor of this as well. I was allowed none because I was not the defendant.I was a witness. The defendant was a wayward family member I helped raise. I was there to testyify against the defendant.

Their is a lot in here. Let me begin by saying that nobody here that I,ve seen has self identified as a libertarian. I'm with you that drug legalization seems to be the central plank of the American Libertarian.

I will self identify as a Jeffersonian classical liberal.
We are the same age. When I was a 19 year old 11 bravo super troop I really considered a career in law enforcement. I had a great deal of respect for authority and institutions. I wanted to crack some heads and make things right. I would even have subscribed to your any means the officer thinks is necessary philosophy.

But I came to really understand the constitution. I began to see government as an obstacle to productivity. I began to see government employees as consumers of resources. Cops I began to see as the strong arm of corrupt politicians and permanent institutions of government.
I decided to be a producer not a consumer. That is why I decided to not become a cop.

Look around you. Where previously we suffered from lawlessness. Today we suffer from too many laws. It is your duty to oppose tyranny. I know you swore an oath to protect and defend the constitution. I took the same oath at 19 years old. Hell I had never even read the constitution. But I took the oath. Then later I learned what the Constitution said. Enumerated powers. Most important concept to master.

Take your oath seriously. Learn what you are defending. If you give a rats azz about your oath. You say you believe in liberty. Do you understand Blackstone and natural law? Every cop should read Blackstone instead of case law. You seem a decent fellow. We have a lot of common experiences, like Fort Benning in the summer. Where the hell did all the ants come from? BTW I went to Sand hill, not harmony church. To old school for me..

This thread is so far from even being about cops you really ought to get that kneejerk thought process checked out.

He didn’t know there was a FTA out on him. He wasn’t informed.

As I understood it he had no reason to believe that the arrest was legit.

No, he’s not.

he ws totally shafted by the NCIS, someone forged a signature on a court martial against him, he proved it, and has been in a battle against the government since.

his charges were finally dropped, but his attempts to prosecute the person whom handwriting analysis experts identifed were all denied.

I have some of the story wrong, he never wrote it down in a clear way, but I have spoken to him on the phone. he is a clear thinking, highly intelligent person who has a horrible story to tell.

And trust me, when you read his writings, he is telling the truth, me and him argued over whether he wrote properly or not, I think he is too emotional, he thinks I am too morose

BUT, he is NOT crazy, not by a longshot!

I don’t understand anyone who condones use of tasers and cuffs, and forcible arrest on anyone but the violent or known escape risks. Even if this older man resisted, he was not a violent man and RATIONAL SPEECH by the officers would have worked to calm the situation without thuggery.

That's a interesting story!
The Battle of Athens, Tennessee
2 AUGUST 1946

On 2 August 1946, some Americans, brutalized by their county government, used armed force to overturn it. These Americans wanted honest, open elections. For years they had asked for state or Federal election monitors to prevent vote fraud -- forged ballots, secret ballot counts, and intimidation by armed sheriff's deputies -- by the local political boss. They got no help.

These Americans' absolute refusal to knuckle-under had been hardened by service in World War II. Having fought to free other countries from murderous regimes, they rejected vicious abuse by their county government. These Americans had a choice. Their state's Constitution - Article 1, Section 26 - recorded their right to keep and bear arms for the common defense. Few "gun control" laws had been enacted.

I work with local law enforcement on a daily basis. Fortunately, most of the officers I work with are common sense conservatives.

In our jurisdiction using a Taser is considered a very serious matter, 2nd only to using a firearm. The police officer has some serious paperwork and splainin’ to do.

The fire department is called out to everyone who has been tased so that our paramedics can run a twelve lead EKG and other tests on them. Often people who appear to be drunk or on drugs actually are having a medical issue such as low blood sugar or an adverse reaction to their prescribed meds, something they ingested, or some other environmental problem. Around here the most common problem is psych patients who are not taking their prescribed meds.

After a person has been tased even if the EKG comes back totally normal... if the person has any complaints such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, a headache, or an altered level of consciousness they are transported by us to a local hospital for an evaluation by doctors. Many people have had serious medical problems or have died after being tased. People have also often have medical problems or even die after fighting with the police, not so much from their injuries, but from overexerting themselves. The most common line of duty cause of death for firefighters and I believe police officers also is a heart attack.

This situation sounds like it was handled differently than how we do things where I work. The only people I have seen tased around here are people who presented a serious threat to the officer involved. Tasers are not appropriate for winning an argument or even a shouting match.
