Why the great She-Moose is great for Barack Obama
Telegraph [UK] ^ | 11/1/10 | Benedict Brogan

Posted on 11/01/2010 5:04:19 PM PDT by Nachum

We carried a graphic in today’s Telegraph that showed how different presidents scored in the polls at the time of the mid-terms in their first term. The good news for Barack Obama seems to be that however bad things look for him, they were a lot worse for Ronald Reagan in ‘82 and Bill Clinton in ‘94, yet both went on to cruise to a second term. If the Republican/Tea Party combine does as well as expected tomorrow, and if Sarah Palin presses home her advantage to take the Republican nomination for president, then think Goldwater and put your money on Mr Obama in 2012. That must be why the Republican leadership has declared open season on the great She-Moose.

First shot came via my colleague Alex Spillius’ interview with Karl Rove last week that took America by storm (and the Ethiopian Review apparently). George W Bush’s political brain concluded: “There are high standards that the American people have for it [the presidency] and they require a certain level of gravitas, and they want to look at the candidate and say ‘that candidate is doing things that gives me confidence that they are up to the most demanding job in the world’.” And that ain’t the S-M. Second salvo comes today in a fascinating piece by the indefatigable Mike Allen of Politico. Under the headline ‘Next stop for GOP leaders: Stopping Palin’. Here’s the gist:

“Interviews with advisers to the main presidential contenders and with other veteran Republican operatives make clear they see themselves on a common, if uncoordinated, mission of halting the momentum and credibility Palin gained with conservative activists by plunging so aggressively into this year’s midterm campaigns.

“She-Moose” seems sexist.

Yes, I thought so, too. But if this guy Benedict Brogan ever finds himself too close to a she moose and her baby, he’d better be very, very careful. I’d rather meet up with a bear.

Oh, you wish, Benedict Brogan. Obama is soooo 2008. Nobody’s even going to be thinking of him in two years. “What, that golfing guy, right?”

No, the good news is that things are going to get much worse for Hussein. He’s not that bright, contrary to the carefully crafted campaign image which has now been totally undone. He doesn’t really have any good advisors as he doens’t trust anyone outside his Chicago clique along with the fact he’s too arrogant to accept sound advice which would conflict with his views.

Somehow they’ve got to protect the guy but that’s going to become increasingly difficult now with a hostile congress which will question his every move as opposed to providing cover for the past 2 years. This guy’s not nearly as bright and capable a politician as Slick who was able to adapt to the changing conditions after 94 and maintain his grip.

A lot of these lefties are in denial and somehow think this guy can recreate 2008. That’s now impossible, he’s been exposed as incapable and has shown no ability to adapt to the changing political landscape.

“There are high standards that the American people have for ...”

Rove said that. Does he think it applies only to the vote for president? Does he and the stop-Palinistas think Republicans are dummies when they choose their candidate and then become smart when they choose their president?

No one will become the Republican nominee if they can’t compete well against Obama.

I doubt whether Obama will even be running in 2010. According to http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/121059-rep-clyburn-gop-majority-will-issue-birther-subpoenas-against-ob “House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) warned Republicans will investigate President Obama’s birthplace if they take over Congress.”

The Democrats believe that the GOP establishment will grow a pair and there will be serious congressional investigations into everything in Obama’s past. They seem to be afraid that this will be devastating. Let's hope they are right.

A poster named RobSterling on the Telegraph blog really nailed it:

"Brogan seems not to notice that the graph that most resembles Obama's is Carter's."

approval ratings mean next to nothing as they are done by the leftist media. Real approval ratings would look radically different than those charts.

When you spend 24/7 pumping up the democrat candidates, politicians, and agenda while at the same time thrashing and trashing the republican candidates, politicians, and agenda, on every TV station and in every newspaper, those are the charts you come up with. Not a very accurate assessment.
