Scott Rasmussen: A Vote Against Dems, Not for the GOP
Wall Street Journal ^ | November 1, 2010 | by: Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 11/02/2010 7:04:48 AM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

Voters don't want to be governed from the left, right or center. They want Washington to recognize that Americans want to govern themselves.

This isn't a wave, it's a tidal shift—and we've seen it coming for a long time. Remarkably, there have been plenty of warning signs over the past two years, but Democratic leaders ignored them. At least the captain of the Titanic tried to miss the iceberg. Congressional Democrats aimed right for it.

While most voters now believe that cutting government spending is good for the economy, congressional Democrats have convinced them that they want to increase government spending. After the president proposed a $50 billion infrastructure plan in September, for example, Rasmussen Reports polling found that 61% of voters believed cutting spending would create more jobs than the president's plan.

Central to the Democrats' electoral woes was the debate on health-care reform. From the moment in May 2009 when the Congressional Budget Office announced that the president's plan would cost a trillion dollars, most voters opposed it. Today 53% want to repeal it. Opposition was always more intense than support, and opposition was especially high among senior citizens, who vote in high numbers in midterm elections.

Rather than acknowledging the public concern by passing a smaller and more popular plan, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama insisted on passing the proposed legislation by any means possible.

As a result, Democrats face massive losses in tomorrow's midterm election.

We're saying 'enough is enough' and casting our votes to save America.

Could some of this be a reason:

A 'stimulus' that only stimulated the National Debt Clock.
10% unemployment.
$3 trillion in new debt in just two years.
The vast increase in the size of government and its share of GDP.
Eight years of projected $1 trillion annual budget deficits.
New capital gains taxes.
New inheritance taxes.
The use of extra-cabinet czars to avoid confirmation and audit.
ACORN
The months-long shutdown of gulf drilling.
The failure to encourage coal, nuclear, and oil and gas new production.
The Black Panther voting intimidation mess.
A president who referred to Americans who disagree with him as 'enemies'.
Obama's bowing abroad and his apologies tour.
The outreach to enemies, and the snubbing of allies.
The unnecessary humiliation of Great Britain and Israel.
The unnecessary announcement of Afghan troop withdrawal deadlines.
'Overseas contingency operations' and 'man-made disasters.'
The proposed civilian trial of KSM.
Democrat controlled states violating the MOVE Act. (Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act)
The Ground Zero mosque mess.
The beer summit mess.
NASA's new main mission of Muslim outreach.
Stopping the border fence.
Suing Arizona and demonizing the state.
The constant 'Bush did it' refrain.
The slurs against limb-lopping doctors.
The warnings of the 'rich' going to the Super Bowl and Las Vegas.
Unhinged appointees like Van Jones and Anita Dunn.
Cash for clunkers.
Dems, monetizing the debt.

The Rats are shovel-ready for the dust bin of history.

Save America2sm

The reason I believe what Rassmussen says here is the indepedent voters. What kind of morons vote for Reagan, then Bush, then Clinton, then Bush, then Obama? They are out there, and this year, they’ll bumble into the polls and vote GOP. But just a few short years from now, they’ll be bumping into something else. They’re as dumb as guinea hens.

“A Vote Against Dems, Not for the GOP”

I hate to point this out to you Einstein, but I've been voting that way for nearly 40 years. Only a handful of times has there been someone I WANTED to vote for. Usually there is somebody I want to vote against.

Who cares. The GOP hasn't given me a reason to vote today for anything other than voting against Obama's agenda.

Hopefully, they will respect the power temporarily bestowed onto them by the voters, and in 2012, I will actually be voting for the GOP once again.

In a national election, the last time I was really, truly energized about a candidate was Reagan.

They want Washington to recognize that Americans want to govern themselves.

That's what I want, and that's one of the reasons I am a conservative. The GOP has a huge opportunity to renew itself as the party that champions local government. The democrats are 100% opposed to self rule.

Most voters have been voting ‘against’ someone an not ‘for’ someone else for 40 odd years as you’ve said.

These pundits make it sound like they have stepped on to some kind of ‘virgin territory’ and they are the new ‘Einstein’.

Whether we say we are voting ‘for the lesser of two evils’ or we are ‘voting against Mr X’ it boils down to the same thing:

The American voter has not had to choose between two individuals but rather two centrists who are out to destroy America.

At least the captain of the Titanic tried to miss the iceberg. Congressional Democrats aimed right for it.

And then used the result as proof that sea travel is unsafe.

“Voters don’t want to be governed from the left, right or center. They want Washington to recognize that Americans want to govern themselves.” You got to admit, that is a brilliant way to put it.

It is a vote against Democrats and the RINOs in the GOP.

BUT, it is more so a vote for Conservatism and the Patriotic defense of our liberties.

This clown would never run a poll of this list he is just another hack who thinks he can manipulate thought through his bs polling.

How about doing a poll on whether Americans want to be governed by the constitution as founded(the right) or the by communist manifesto?(the left)

My take is:

1/3 of voter “anger” is the economy

2/3 is Obama/Dems policies: Health Care, illegals, etc

even if the economy improves greatly by 2012, voter anger will still be there.

I just wish the new speaker could cram that gavel there the sun doesn't shine on Nancy..Also wonder if she is still laughing.. Remember this folks when you vote..
