NEW BERN, N.C. - Election officials say they are taking steps to deal with issues that have surfaced at polling places.

In Craven County, some people complained the voting machines didn't correctly count their votes. Over the weekend, a Federal judge ruled counties like Craven that use touch-screen voting machines must tell voters that the machines are sensitive. Poll workers also need to keep detailed records of complaints about the machines. Erin Burridge works with the Craven County Board of Elections and says "Any mandate that comes down from the state or any directive in regards to election day and what they want us to do we will comply with".

The ruling comes from the State Republican Party accusation that the State Board of Elections knew about problems with the machines and didn't address them. Johnnie McLean says there were isolated cases where people tried to vote for Republican but the machine came up Democrat.

She says the best advice is if you have a problem, find a poll worker. Johnnie McLean says "We regret that any voter has been inconvenienced in this process. They have not been disenfranchise".

McLean says your vote does not count until you see a screen that confirms it.

The polls open at 6:30 and close at 7:30 on Tuesday

Just heard on Fox News that two people have been shot in New Hampshire near a voting place. ??? Praying it’s not related to the election.

These days, when the government says it's monitoring the election, it means there's less chance of a free election and more corruption and oppression.

Computers are probably still pretty solid technology when it comes to voting. It’s get them adapted to handle the various human traits that vary from the skilled user to the not so skilled user that seems to cause the problems now.

The machine I used wouldn’t allow me to skip any office and not select anyone even though some Democrats ran unopposed for local offices. I refuse to ever vote for a rat again so I wrote in some cartoon characters.

Apparently they are also partisan. None have defaulted to Republicans, always Dems. You’d almost think someone programmed them to do that. Nah.

The machines we use alert you to a skipped vote but you can go one and leave it blank. They don’t force the vote if you continue on to the next step or page.

Voting systems that do not provide a paper trail should be banned. Period!

We have to stop using computers for voting. It is way too easy for creeps to cheat and no one ever finding out.
