SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Democrats have held onto one of the most hotly contested congressional seats in the country with Rep. Joe Donnelly winning re-election in northern Indiana's 2nd district.

The district was a top target of Republicans in their drive to win a U.S. House majority. Donnelly unseated a Republican congressman in 2006 as the Democrats took control of the house....

The margin was razor-thin on this one, folks. Looks like the Libertarian candidate might have made the difference:

U.S. House District 2

Jackie Walorski (R) 88,786 47 Joe Donnelly (D) 91,328 48 Mark Vogel (L) 9,445 5

Dangit!

Isn't this close enough for a recount?

More than a just few of those were a vote for "none of the above" than for Vogel.

Stinks.

It was even closer in Ky-6 where the RAT Chandler looks like he has hung on by 600 votes out of about 240,000 cast.

You should see how that district is drawn. It has four little bursts around the edge to draw in as many dems as they could. I just don’t see how people voted for this guy. He wouldn’t even campaign in our area because of opposition to his record. Must be the South Bend area a strong Catholic/Democrat loyal area. But their unemployment was up to 15 percent at one time. Obama went to that area twice to give ‘speeches’.

I was so disappointed when they called it for Donnelly. I really wanted Walorski to win.
