WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says lawmakers of both parties need to start working together now that Republicans have reduced the Democrats' dominance in the chamber.

Reid said on NBC's "Today" show that he planned to speak Wednesday with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on ways to "build a consensus and move this country along."

Senate Democrats lost at least six seats on Election Day, but narrowly held their majority.

I agree with you. Now that Nevada has inflicted our nation with Reid for another 6 years, I will be boycotting Nevada. I usually like to go to Las Vegas every now and then .... was in Reno last summer and the place was suffering. Nevada has asked for more of the same. Think I’ll be spending my vacation time in Pennsylvania or Florida or another red state and I’ll avoid the blue states altogether.

Maybe I should email the visitor center there and tell them I am “boycotting.”

Yeah, you should. Copy Harrah's.

There goes the Dunham birth records.

And there goes the replacement when Inouye ages out of office.

The Democrats already compromised with the Socialist, Communist, and International Green Parties.

No. The Republicans need to NOT compromise. What would they compromise on anyway? The dems have shown us their agenda - skirt the Constitution, create more and more heavy-handed government, and spend like crazy. How do you compromise on all that? The Republicans need to stand firm. I’m not sure they can. McCain was talking again this week about how much he respects his colleague Russ Feingold - yikes, yikes, yikes.

Notice, when he no longer holds the whip hand, 60 votes, we have to have consensus. I hate to tell Harry but consensus is even more important when you hold the whip hand.

Why?

Any majority is subject to change. Sometimes it happens quickly and sometimes it happens slowly. If you want it happen slowly you must seek consensus when you have the whip hand. Failure to do so will cause change quicker.

And Harry, 2012 is just around the corner. Have you learned anything?

NO, Harry. There will be no compromise.

Americans have spoken loud and clear about how they feel about your socialist schemes. We’ve got the keys back and we’re driving this country back to it’s original greatness.

You’re noting but a token liberal now. You, Barney, Babs, and all the rest.

.....any chance we can replace McConnell with DeMint as the Senate Minority Leader?

Nah. We need McConnell in there. He understands Democrats. He can work with them. Experienced X-aisle negotiator. This nasty election screwed up a lot of sweetheart deals for some of Mitch's contributors and he needs to get back to business as usual.

Everybody just simmer down, OK? Next week, Reid, Boehner, and McConnell will meet in a cozy little Georgetown bar and smooth things out so that no matter what's going on in the country, their show will run as smoothly as ever. DeMint has a "loose cannon" tendency that upsets people too much.

Rand Paul needs a committee assignment (I suggest "Highway Beautification") and to be sent on a fact-finding tour of Rumania, closely followed by a visit to the mess-kit repair facility at Twenty-Nine Palms.

Republicans have the purse strings and can fix the spending issues without Harry. I think that alone will bring enough certainty to business to begin investing again.

Yep. I was really hoping for “Call me Senator” Babs to bite the dust, but I guess Californians like things just the way they are...
