Scott Holds Onto 1% Lead Over Sink (Florida Governor's Race)

TAMPA, Fla. -- The bitter race between candidates to replace Charlie Crist as governor remained too close to call early Wednesday.

The closely watched contest matched Republican businessman Rick Scott against Democrat Alex Sink, Florida's chief financial officer. With 99 percent of the expected vote counted -- all but 40 precincts -- Scott lead by 52,924 votes.

At 6:45 a.m., Scott had 48.94 percent, while Sink had 47.65 percent. An automatic machine recount is triggered if the final margin is within one-half of 1 percent.

Among the votes yet to be counted are absentee and provisional ballots, of which thousands remain uncounted. It was not clear when a final tally would be available

Sure is taking a long time to count the votes in the last 40 precincts.

Scott wins this unless there is massive fraud...way over amount at this point to avoid an auto recount...

“I am reading on NRO tweet tracker Alex sink will concede at 10:45. “

Hope you are right
Florida along with Texas, OH and PA were crucial states this year - redistricting and all.

This will be a case of the usual suspects ...

The solidly Democrat areas around Miami and Tallahassee will be working to ‘find’ new votes while the lawyers will be throwing out military ballots as rapidly as possible.

It almost worked in 2000 and they will certainly give it every chance now. Florida is VITAL for Obama 2012. They passed the redistricting amendments and they need the Governorship to put the teeth into getting the re-apportionment done the DEMOCRAT WAY!

Great for florida but why did they vote for 5 and 6 on the ballot? They have been duped not many are talking about how Acorn and the radicals may have found a way to block state redistricting..

5 and 6 on the ballot passed which may limit the ability for the Republicans to redistrict in Florida to their advantage.

It was called Fair Redistricting sounds good but I was witnessed to these people pushing to get it on the ballot it was endorsed by all the left radical groups.

Looks like it passed may limit Brown from redistricting; the leftists are always working to undermine us even in victory...
