Voters in Arizona and Oklahoma amended their state constitutions Tuesday with "healthcare freedom" measures designed to block the new federal mandate on individuals and some employers to buy health insurance. Voters in Colorado went the other way, defeating a similar initiative. The measures purport to give state residents the right not to participate in any healthcare system without penalty and to have access to any legal medical services they can afford.

We ‘had’ the best medical care system in the world.
The real things that needed ‘fixing’ were Federal interference and Federal theft of the funds to pay other bills.
Health care is just like any other business. The less the government interferes, the better the service will be.
Not to mention Ft. Collins and Pueblo!

Aspen is a big resort area where the rich have their second homes. Many Hollywood people have second homes in these ski resort areas, we know how many of them are foaming-at-the-mouth moonbats who would probably think nothing of cheating by voting in two states. Who knows they could even vote three or four times as some of them may have more than two houses. This situation reminds me of Florida where there have been allegations about northern “snow birds” who have a home up north and a winter home in Florida, actually voting at both addresses. We have seen, time and again that many liberals have no sense of fair play and the ends justifies the means.
I wonder if it would be constitutional for other states to require those immigrating from California to be a resident in the state for four years before they could vote in state or federal elections.
It’s better than that, we have Lake Michigan along the lower peninsula. Although Michigan is 40-60 miles away, as the crow flies, it take 8-10 hours to drive to Detroit. We don’t have to worry about the UP, they’re conservative and for the most part, forgotten by their state. The UP is ripe for a conservative movement, more so than the free staters movement out east.

Here in Wisconsin, we’ve been battling Milwaukee and Madison for years. Finally, finally! We broke through. Don’t give up! It took us years and years to break the liberal back.
In our senate it’s a 4 seat majority, and a 20+ seats in our house. Yesterday, it was almost the opposite. We’ve been fighting for years and years and years. Even when Tommy Thompson was gov, there wasn’t this kind of majority.
To add the cherry, we just elected a conservative to the gov. Keep on fighting the battle. You can do it. We used to look up to Colorado as an example just a few short years ago, you can restore it!
Churches should have get-out-the-vote campaigns. Clergy should encourage their congregation to vote their conscience and they could organize their people to call their families and friends to vote. They don't have to mention which party to vote for, they only need to encourage people to vote. Imagine if each congregant or parishioner called up five people to encourage them to vote.
The liberal urban areas have a large population of government workers, college liberals plus the unions. Those three groups are well organized and politicized.
I have (temporarily) affordable insurance. I’m self employed and carry a $5K deductible policy that works pretty well. BC/BS has notified me that starting 1/1/11 I get all kinds of new mandated coverage. I haven’t received my notice of premium increase to pay for all of these goodies I neither want nor need. But this letter was telling me to be ready for the big one. A customer of mine told me this morning he was just informed his premiums were increasing 100% as of 1/1/11.
Everyone here should be cognizant of the fact that even if the mandate to buy insurance is killed, it will do nothing to stop these premium increases. I still will have to give up my insurance. If I am lucky, I just won’t have to pay huge fines to the government for being screwed out of my insurance. But I will still be without insurance.
And neither will many of you.
With ObamaCare, we kill the whole thing, or we lose the game. There is NO middle ground. Win or lose, NO ties.
We need to break those associations. Let’s keep advancing our agenda, and it will eventually happen.

While there is nothing wrong per se with taking on the federal government in the federal courts... THIS kind of effort to resist unconstitutional federal mandates misses the point of nullification. By going this route, the States are still trying to use an arm of the federal government to undue a usurpation of power by the federal government, which gives credence to the erroneous assumption that the federal government can legitimately serve as the arbiter (or even worse the exclusive arbiter) of the extent of the powers of ITSELF as defined by the Constitution in relation to the States. Nowhere in the Constitution was the federal government (including the Supreme Court) empowered to serve as the judge (much less the exclusive judge) of the constitutionality of federal actions... which means by its omission that the power to judge over the constitutionality of federal actions is “reserved to the States or to the people” per the 10th Amendment.
The better route, as suggested by no less statesmen than Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, is for the States to bypass the courts entirely and just unilaterally declare the federal mandates null and void either through legislation or amendments to their State constitutions. This is how many of the States have already engaged in nullification with their health care freedom/firearms freedom bills and referendums that we’ve seen over the last two years.
Kudos to these two States for standing up for their sovereignty. As it’s very unlikely that the federal government will ever willingly give back to the States the powers that it has illegally stolen over the last two centuries, simple State nullification may indeed be our best long-term strategy to systematically dismantle the 75% of the federal government that exists unconstitutionally.
As soon as our NEW conservative governor is sworn in, on that day, he’s walking a repeal letter over to our AG, Wisconsin will be in the fight.
And, yes, she and I are REJOICING.
Nullification is the last resort, not the first choice. I actually favor it if SCOTUS rules against us. ObamaCare adds 16 million to the Medicaid rolls. The states must pick up half the costs. It is an unfunded mandate.
And, our Florida Supreme Court had our nulification amendment removed from the ballot! Yet, the uninformed, ignorant voters, yesterday, approved returning them to the Bench.
