Skip to comments."Obama Agenda For "Change" Delivered Strong Slap To The Face" (From Japan) My Translation

Japanese news today over here (newspapers above the fold, magazines, non-stop TV networks) are filled to the brim with news of Mr. Obama's humiliating defeat at the hands of the Republicans.
Many of this is bringing Japanese up to speed as to how unpopular Mr. Obama really is, as for the last two years by and large they perpetuated the image of him being successful and popular (mostly in order to sell books and English instruction tapes using his speeches). What a rude awakening.
Well, my favorite title is from this morning's Hokkaido Shimbun:
Essentially: "Obama Agenda For "Change" Delivered Strong Slap To The Face" Here is the LINK to the original Japanese article.
--Obama tried to strike back against the tidal wave of sentiment across the land that has risen in opposition to his administration and policies. He suffered a major defeat on November 4 (Japan Time).
--Just as predicted, Obama was handily defeated in the US midterm elections. Even though he kept a slim majority in the US Senate, he was pummeled in the House of Representatives, which now goes into Republican Party control. It was essentially a "vote of no confidence" on a national level, and creates a Yellow Light for him to proceed for reelection in 2012.
--Obama will have no choice now, but to bend, and go along with the Republicans in light of this stunning defeat.
--The American People are suffering the effects of continuing 9% unemployment and Obama's promises. Another factor was the new phenomenon of the "small government" movement known as the Tea Parties.
--Obama heads to Asia, including to the APEC Summit Conference here in Japan. We want to hear Obama be able to give a reassuring message to Japan and the World on this trip that America is strong.

Today is Jim Robinsons birthday..If you havent donated to FR, today would be a good day to give.
Hi. Ping! You know what to do.... ;-)
Have not done so in a little while, and while a bit tapped out, will reserve some for Jim Thompson! ;-)
Your “FReepranslations” are one of the best parts of FR...thanks.
ROFLOL...stop it, my sides are splitting. You're killing me. Cut it out!
Old Japanese saying....”if obama wants to save face, keep lower 1/2 shut”!
Obama Agenda for Change given a swift kick in the butt....MY translation! LOL!
Domo arigato for posting.
Kudos to TigerLikesRooster on Korean Peninsula (particularly sensitive, urgent breaking North Korea and China) stuff, and a couple of guys/gals in the Middle East as well. Thanks. ;-)
THE SLAPDOWN HEARD AROUND THE WORLD !!!
Please no teleprompters.......
I expect him to screw up over here when he visits next week. Another major faux pas is in the making, you can take that to the bank about Obowma whenever he visits Japan (which I am convinced he HATES). Whether it is a silly bow again, or a gaffe, (or both at the same time) he and his staff will somehow manage to insult one of our closest , free market democratic pro-US allies in the bullwark against Communism in East Asia.
Thanks...I’m spamming the threads tonight. TRying to get this over for the folks that work so hard on the freeathons.
Trying to visualize the Japanese speaking like BO is a bit funny and scary. lol.
I take great pleasure that the “strong slap in the face” by the American people has happened just as the self proclaimed king heads off on a kingly trip to India—it makes him look all the more ridiculous to the rest of the world—the emperorer has no clothes and the whole world is laughing at him and his queen of hearts.
Dude....the “Idiot box” as Mondale called it is when Obozo loses face! He can’t speak a word without it!
Oh it was one of the most idiotic, shortsighted, knee-jerk things I have seen in Japan, especially about two years ago. All these people WITHOUT A CLUE ABOUT THIS IMPOSTER, going around and say "iesu ui kyan" (yes we can), and "hohpu" (hope), and "chenji" (can). All these stupid Obamanistic catch phrases, even making it into TV commercials. Even the Japanese town oddly enough named "Obama" 小浜 drank the koolaid and went bonkers over it [see pics above], on the mere reason that their town shared his name, and nothing else (Did they ever even consider appeasing Obama has more than facilitated the prospect of North Korea lobbing a Scud on Nodong missile up the very nostrils of Obama City's mayor?) Japanese MSM spoon-fed idiots..they must be feeling pretty stupid right about now.
Everything is packaging, not substance. The Japanese are learning fast that when it comes to Patrice Lumumba Obongo, outside of some good teleprompter-assisted speeches, there just ain't much substance.
Oh yes..I forgot about the bowing incident. Every time he goes to another country he steps in dog doo doo. Then there is what the First Wookie is wearing to make us cringe.
Well you know what? Let him come and step in dog doo doo like he did last time. Because I know the Japanese. He has no respect to lose anyway as far as they are concerned.
Thanks for the laugh!
So do you live in Tokyo or Hokkaido?
BTW, you can watch Tantei Knight Scoop for free on pandora.tv
As always thanks for post. Very interesting. Hope you get some news about Japanese reporting of visit to India: cost, number of people, etc.
As the FR moniker reads, FRiend.
LOL!!! JUST GREAT!!! ;-)
Indian news media is already full of that, and even more reporting on such Government Waste in the India Trip, that CBSNBCABCCNNMSNBC will not do about that, while Obama is in India, will in fact come through unfiltered in the Indian media. Many of us here will post such media in the next few days, to humiliate this guy even further on the global stage and tell the truth back home to the PEOPLE.
Wow, AIT. If I’m not mistaken......in the culture over there.....that’s pretty strong language, amirite? ‘Slap to the face’???? Yeeeeaaaoooooowch! Correct me if I’m wrong.
Translator’s prerogative, but it comes out to that kind of phrase, otherwise “electrifying, painful stun”, the more direct translation.
First 3 characters are katakana O BA MA, a natural for Japanese, オバマ
Next is an honorific version of Mister, 氏
Then is the particle NO, の, which always stands out. It announces the following as pertaining or belonging to Mr Obama.
These mean "revolution", or "reformation" , 変革
Then the particle NI, に, meaning to or at the preceding.
Then finally a "severe blow", 痛撃
so going back to front, "Severe blow to revolution of the Honorable Mister Obama"
I am not going to ask what those products are supposed to be.
Thank you very much, AmericanInTokyo.

What is it with Japanesa adoration of cartoonlike images? For example, even adults think find funny small childlike drawn images reminiscent of kewpie dolls. Little Kitty is one. Substance seems irrelevant to this audience. What is it that’s so appealing to them about two-dimensional round, blank stare, cutsy, cutsy stick-figures? What’s the point of all the fingering victory signs when Japanese are having their photos taken? Can anyone enlighten us? What’s at the core of the adoration and laugh out loud delight at the repetitious display of one-dimensional human icons? Actually, as I am writing this, I realize that Obama himself is just such a one-dimensional cartoon-like figure. His arrogrant raised chin makes him a king among stick figures. With the “slap in the face to Obama” election, now the Japanese can add Obama to their repertoire of laughable images.
The Age of Aquarius has meeting with Karma and gets taken down in a firemans carry hard and flat on it’s back.
Thanks for the article, it is always nice to get your take on things from Japan:)
I dont know. That would be for a separate thread. All I know is that 100% of FREE REPUBLIC knew Obama was an incompetent, Marxist empty suit Waaaay before the election, and in some places in the world, they are just now only coming to this conclusion. Japan included. (Although their, the Japanese’ that is, wake up call was with the North Korean missile launches and nuke tests soon after Obongo took over, and Obama slept through the whole damned thing and did nothing).
It is one of my ways of giving back to Free Republic, when short on cash for donations. What I do would go at $50 to $70 an hour, maybe...but for Free Republic always for gratis and to get the word out to the wider world, not to mention keep my J to E skills intact, it is my pleasure and I am more than happy to do it. ;-)
Lol! Well, son is taking Japanese language classes and I watch enough animes to pick up a word or two.
I can also call you an idiot in Japanese if the occasion ever arises, so be careful. ;)
