Giuliani: Palin Probably Will Run for President

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Wednesday that he believes Sarah Palin will run for president in 2012.

"My guess is yes – she's going to run for president," Giuliani told CNN's Wolf Blitzer. "She sounds to me like somebody who's running for president."

The former presidential candidate the GOP should "put off the [2012 presidential] election" and "try to accomplish a few things first," citing a potential compromise on the extension of tax cuts set to expire at the end of the year.

As for Meghan McCain, some ‘jokes’ are funny, but she’s just stupid and obese.

She tried to sell her silly book by invoking Sarah’s name, but that backfired and now her book is somewhere like # 999,000 on amazon.

We need to not fool ourselves. The Republican party had losses in the WV, Colorado, and NV Senate, close races in Ohio and Pennsylvania and Washington, and this was in a mid-term election with historically high support of the GOP . . . and a disinterested black vote. The black vote will come out in 2012 for Obama and that will make a lot of states closer.

Countering that is Obama’s massive unpopularity, which was much much higher than Manchins, Murrays etc.

I sure don’t want another Republican light president when our country is at stake. So we’ve got to keep working.

The only "plan" I saw out of Bush Sr. was to break his "no new taxes" pledge, allow Saddam Hussein to escape the Gulf War intact, setting the stage for the events that led to the war that is still ongoing, and losing what should have been a slam-dunk re-election to Bill Clinton. The Bush Sr. presidency was hardly a distinguished one and for all the faults of his son, he was a much better president than his father.

It sounds like you are nostalgic for the "dignified" presidents of the past where every word uttered was statesmanlike. In today's media-saturated world, where everybody's imperfections are exposed for all to see, forget about it. If George Washington himself was surrounded by the "media bubble" that surrounds our current leaders 24/7, he'd come across as a grouchy, aloof, cantankerous man with bad teeth and wouldn't get elected town selectman, never mind president of the United States.

Want to become president ? Shovel bags of money into the networks of buinessmen owning the media and you get coverage - have a consultant teach you what to wear and how to blink. Forget about the rest.

Both good man, nevertheless both of these guys will be demonized by the MSM as well. So the idea of giving up a once in a generation candidate in Sarah IS RIDICULOUS.

Rubio I do not think can be on the ticket this soon? He has not even arranged for his staff yet.

as good as palin is in some regards, i wouldn't call her a once in a lifetime candidate. i don't think pence or thune would want the second spot on her ticket although that's just my own feeling and maybe that's not true. rubio maybe. personally, pence rubio and thune rubio both looks better to me than palin rubio. we will see soon enough i suppose. i would certainly be happy with any of the above.

I hear what you are saying but in today's media-saturated world, it is virtually impossible for a public figure like Sarah Palin to do anything in public that is not videotaped or otherwise recorded in some manner. This makes it easy for her critics to pick and choose her more "undignified" moments to show us how unfit she is to hold public office.

Up until the last few decades, it was possible for presidents to appear always dignified for the people. They got to pick and choose when their picture or portrait would be taken and they were dressed to the nines for it. Look at any portrait of George Washington. You think he dressed that way when he did his daily rounds at Mount Vernon?

Their public addresses were carefully scripted ahead of time and because nobody was able to tape it, the newspapers could only print the text that was given to them. What if we had a video of Abraham Lincoln delivering the Gettysburg Address on YouTube? Would we have a different opinion of the Gettysburg Address if we were able to see how it was delivered live in person as opposed to reading it on a slab of marble at the very dignified and stately Lincoln Memorial?

Now George Washington and Abraham Lincoln had their unguarded moments as well. Washington probably spit tobacco juice on the White House floor and Lincoln probably went to fetch the mail in his underwear. But unlike the public figures of today, none of those moments were ever recorded for posterity so it is easy to look back to those years and think of these historical figures as absolutely perfect people who did the dignified thing always.

Now there is a double standard being applied between liberal and conservative public figures. Can you imagine the uproar if President George W. Bush ever emerged from his limousine looking like this?

She was new to the big stage. Takes a while. Reagan himself came up short in ‘76. Palin - like Reagan - is a quick study. She will be fun to watch.

I don’t think Sarah is “Republican light” in any way. She’s great. Battle-tested in ways very few candidates have ever been.
